HUNTING and PAIN
Thank You All for the Thoughts and Prayers. For the past 5 Years I knew something had to be wrong I just didn't know what. Traveling between Jobs every day and when I would get out of my Company Truck I couldn't hardly walk sometimes until I limbered up. I just blamed it on getting Old Before my time. As the years went by it just got worse until I couldn't limber up, just stiff, in pain and drunk walking all the time. But, I had Coon Hunting on the Brain as you can see from the Picture, lol, and I just kept going even though not for long each night. Looking forward to getting this Titanium Plate in and the Bone Spurs cut out and Recovering. Maybe I will continue working on the Book I'm writing while I'm recovering. I appreciate each and every thought and prayer and the PM's I got. Coon Hunters have Heart that's for sure. I was reminded of this by someone who reached out through PM to offer his Sincere Prayers and Wishes for a Great Recovery. Even though we had our difference of opinions in a hunt a few years back, he still reached out. That meant a Lot to me and what I'm going through, Thanks.

Steve
I just got my computer back today. Hoping and praying that everything goes well. Tell Mrs. Beverly to keep me updated.
SURGERY
Thanks Mr. Jack. They still waiting on my end to Approve so we can get the Surgeries done. It won't be today and probably won't be tomorrow. Hoping Thursday and if not then, after Christmas. I got the Crud and went yesterday and got Steroid shot and Antibiotics. I have been sitting in the house or just walking the Sandbar a little, taking it easy. The Neurosurgeon spooked me with all he said, BUT, they need to get this Surgery over with. If I'm to be sitting doing nothing then I need to be HEALING not WAITING. I'm going to give you a shout today. Need to talk to you about hiring you to hunt Blue while I'm down and out if you aren't already full up with hounds and if your interested. I don't want to see him set back like his Sire, Bob was. I don't think they ever end up making quite the Hound they would have been without the set back. Just my opinion. Talk to you later.

BO
Took BO out for a few minutes tonight. Found out yesterday that the Surgery won't be until January 10th. I am very dizzy and unbalanced and feel very weak but I told Beverly I just couldn't sit on this couch another 3 weeks waiting on surgery. If I fall I would rather it be in the Swamp with my Hound than taking the Garbage out going down these steps at the house. I was in Gods hands before the bad news and I'm putting it back in His Hands. I am as careful as I can be but can't quit living waiting on something I can't control. BO struck off back of 4-Wheeler half way through the Swamp and I cut him. 75 Yards off the Trail he went to opening and Smoked one through the Swamp Water for 361 Yards and into a stand of Pine on a little higher ground. Treed up a Big, Gnarly Oak. Took a while staggering around trying to find him but I finally did and knocked it out to BO. It was a BIG COON for the Swamp. Wasn't Rocket, it was Roxanne, His Big Sister. We made our way back to the 4-Wheeler and then Home. Had all I could take but enjoyed getting out. The Pain and Stress starting to get to me. Mason and Family came and did their Christmas with us today and he touched my Heart with his Homemade Christmas Card to me. He had drawn me a lot of Pictures but the part that got me was what he wrote. He said he was sorry I couldn't move my neck and thanked me for teaching him how to Read and all the stories I read him over the years. He also said how I used to Race him on the Sandbar and how fun it was. And that now he could read to me, tell time and even count his on money. It chocked me up before I could finish reading all my Little Buddy wrote from his Heart to his Pawpaw. That is TRULY what Christmas is All About. OUR LOVE for CHRIST and the LOVE WE HAVE IN OUR HEARTS FOR ONE ANOTHER. Merry Christmas.

Re: ROCKET THE RACOON

Twas the night before Christmas and under a full Moon,
Not a creature was stirring except Rocket the Racoon.
The light of the Moon had other critters scared to move about,
But I ain't no coward Rocket would Shout!
As he made his way down Black Branch Swamp,
He thought of the years that had passed and miles he had tromped.
Since he was just a little kitten coon born in a hollow corner fence post,
He was the Sow's favorite and she fed him the most.
Rocket grew and grew until he was the biggest coon in the woods,
Learned every trick to outwit the hounds and tree him they never could.
But there was a man and his hounds that lived on the Bogue Chitto River,
That had a hound that located with a Bawling Quiver.
Word on the Street and in the woods was he could tree Any Coon,
I'm to smart for that Ole Bluetick thought Rocket the Racoon.
Off in the distance he heard the 4 wheeler then silence as the Hunter parked,
Not long after came the Raging Bawls as Mr. Bojangles barked.
He had picked up Rockets trail the coon knew for sure,
Because where Bo opened Rocket had searched for food but only found a fishing lure.
Not really scared but out of respect for the reputation of this hound,
Rocket picked up the pace heading for a tree where he had never been found.
Reaching the Huge Turkey Pine he sank his sharp claws deep in the bark,
Up he went to his hiding place as he listened to the hounds bawls off in the dark.
Closer and Closer they came until he heard why all other coons were hid in fear,
That Long, Quivering Bawl that let the Hunter know the Coon is Here!
Rocket listened to the hounds Raging Bawls from way down below,
Then shut his eyes as the Hunters light lit up the tree with a Glow.
It wasn't a few minutes but seemed like a long time,
Rocket heard a Click, Pop, then close to his head a Whine.
He knew he was found so swung down on a limb and hung, looking straight into the Hunters Eyes,
Then dropped to the ground far below before the Hunter got another try.
Off he ran in the darkness feeling fear from his toes to his cheeks,
Racing through the Swamp under Briars and across creeks.
Headed home to a hollow tree near the hollow fence post,
Knowing if he didn't make it he would only be a Ghost.
One mile of running faster than he had ever been,
He reached the safety of his big old Den.
Mr. Bojangles wasn't far behind and slammed the tree with that Quivering Bawl,
Roaring his Rage so loud that a half mile away it echoed off a barn wall.
The Hunter reached the tree on this night before Christmas under the Full Moon,
And knew that him and his favorite hound had been beat by Rocket the Racoon.
As he pulled Bo off the Old Den Tree,
I heard him say, " Merry Christmas! " and knew he was talking to me!
Ho, Ho, Ho!!
BO, Bo, Bo!!

HUNTING
Hope Everyone had a Great Christmas, we sure did. Lots of Joy watching the Little Ones during the Magic of Christmas. I've been doing some hunting down the River in the Boat and also in Black Branch Swamp. Blue looking good and BO has been looking Super Good. Christmas Eve I took him and Rose in the Boat Down River. It was her first night to get to hunt. Not wanting to get her started until after I recover from the Surgery coming up but just trying to let her get a feel for the Nite Life. I have never Underestimated the Danger of Running this Shallow River especially at night and I do my best. Christmas Eve I liked to have let it get away from me. Hit a Stob that was just above the water on my right side as I came into a Loggy tight bend. It launched the boat hard left at the Bank as I slammed back on the Throttle and hit Reverse while Spinning the wheel Hard. It spun 180 degrees and was pointed back upriver as I dropped the hammer to forward wide open just as the back end was crashing into a big drift in swift water. It happened in about 3 seconds, All of It. I got Lucky. Went on down river and BO got deep and treed this one and Rose went to him as I got close. I knocked the Coon down and she went NUTs so I laid a drag and marked the tree she is on. She found it quick and lit it up. Fast, Hard, High Pitched Chop. Sounded real good. There are several from this litter of BO and Ann that are starting to work tracks and treeing hard at 7 months old. Motley and Rose would be 2 more if I had fooled with them yet but had my hands full with Blue and felt they needed a little more time. Rose Switch was definitely Flipped the other night. It won't take nothing now but time and Coons and she will be Rolling. The Sunset Picture is from Christmas Eve Evening. God had His Paint Brush out doing another Masterpiece. It was Truly a Spectacular Sunset. I see a Cross in the Picture. I guess we can all see what we want to see but I feel He was Reminding us all, The Reason for the Season. Hope Everyone has a Happy New Year as Well.

Hunting
Great pictures Steve, I also see the cross
Haven't been on here for a while Steve Sorry to here of your medical problems and we sure wish you the best of luck with all this. Sounds like your doctors are on top of it.the alternative of getting old is no good!
GETTING OLD and GETTING COLD
Thanks Mr. Jack and Mark. Surgery is one week from Wednesday and I have been hunting and planning on hunting right up until the night before Surgery but now the Artic Blast has reached the SOUTH. Teens and Low 20's every night through Friday. I won't be in the Flooded Swamp or riding the River in the Jet Boat hunting in that kind of Cold. Will put the Hounds plenty of Fresh Bermuda Hay in their Houses today so they stay Warm. We usually get Cold like this for a couple nights then it warms back up but this is going to stay with us a little while. Glad I've stocked up on buying Old Books, going to have Plenty Time sitting around to read them.

SURGERY
Going ok Mark, hope all is well up your way. Surgery is happening Wednesday. I go Tuesday for Pre Op and to get fitted for the C-Collar. The Cold weather we have had all week in the Teens and low 20's has kept me out of the woods but going to be in the upper 20's tonight so I will be back to hunting Bo for a few nights. Not looking forward to the Surgery and it messing up the best Month or so of hunting season but don't have a choice. I am looking forward to recovering and be much better off and doing a Lot of Hunting this year. Hoping to get back to work Soon and have a lot of personal Projects I want to get done this year. Probably will come up to the Winter Classic for a day just to Visit and do some Shopping. Hope to see you there, Take Care.

I most likely will not make it to winter classic this year I dont have anything ready. Tried talking a fella into letting me hunt his Dizzie male down there but he doesnt want to take a chance messing him up, so I think I will set this one out.
Good Luck
Steve,
Good luck with your surgery so you can get mended up and back in the woods. I have been enjoying your pictures and posts up here in the cold north. I think we are going to get a break this week and one day it is supposed to stay above freezing and then back to cold. Not much snow up here but it is sure alot like winter.
Take Care,
Scott
