SPRING IS HERE
Scott I'm looking forward to the trip to Iowa for Bluetick Days and visiting with you and others. I will be ready for a long road trip at that time I'm sure. Spring has set in here and we have been in the low 80's for several days now. River is back down and ground is drying up some with all the wind we have each day. Hoping we miss another year of flooding. It's nice when we have a Drier than normal Spring. I will Disc the Garden tomorrow and Plant on March 17th like I did last year. Hope yaw warm up soon and you get those young hounds after those Stinky Coons that's been denned up. They should be able to tree a few before all the leaves get on the trees making them a little harder to find. Take Care.
Tommy you don't need Blue. You and Donald have your hands full with some nice young ones of your on. Blue will stay here until he dies of Old Age I imagine. Told Mr. Jack if I ever got mad enough at him to sell him that I would give him to Mr. Jack first if he wanted to hunt him. Other than that happening he has a home for life. Take Care.

Blue
Chris and his son Cole came by last night and we loaded up Blue and Sheba. We went down river a few miles where we usually have a rough time striking a coon and last night was no exception. Although neither dog hunted as good as they should have. They should have struck a coon, but they just were not moving. We made 2 drops and never got a bark. We decided to come back to the house and drop Blue off and hunt Sheba alone. She struck 2 cold tracks and made 2 slick trees. What a night. We loaded up and called it a night.
Tonight I loaded Blue up and headed to the river. I dropped Blue off on a spring fed branch that runs through the upper part of the swamp and into a slough about 400 yards farther down. After I turned blue loose I got to checking my Garmin and all I had were ? marks and then I thought about it, I have a Astro 320 with T-5 collars and last night I was hunting with Chris and he has an Alpha. We hooked my collars up to his unit and I remembered we did this same thing about 2 years ago and when you do that it automatically takes the collars off the Astro 320. and I could not remember how I put the collars back on my unit. I didn't check everything before I turned Blue loose. If I had I never would have turned him loose. Now I turned a lot of dogs loose many years ago without tracking systems on them. We didn't have them back then. In my wildest dreams back then, I never would have dreamed we would ever have anything like these Garmin Tracking Systems. I won't turn my dog loose these days without one on them, so I was sure glad tonight to hear Blue just come treed. I walked in to him and he was treed up the huge oak tree that you see in the picture above. There were 2 coons up there looking at me. We left them to run again and called it a night, because of the tracking system. After I got home I started trying to figure out how to get it all straitened out. I usually call Jeremy or Chris when I have a problem with my Garmin and they can usually tell me how to fix it, but they both work and I didn't want to bother them at this time of night. I got to thinking I might could erase the collar from my unit and put it back on and it might work. I did this and it worked. I will try to remember this next time.
Mr. Tommy are you still having trouble seeing my pictures.
Yes sir, Mr. Jack, still can't view them. Maybe I need to join the site where you store them. Since Photobucket started charging people to use them, I swapped to Tinypics.

BO
Cut BO and Rose in Bo's Bottom last night and BO flew through those open Swamp Bottoms and got treed Fast. He covered .66 miles and averaged 9.3 miles an hour doing it. Fastest I have seen him hunt down here in the thickest of the SOUTH. He was treed on a Cypress in a Flooded Cypress Flat. A Foot of Water was everywhere. Coon was all the way in the Top Swaying in the Breeze. Second Shot put him Down. Going after the Ghost Coon tonight. Mr. Jack, Blue looks good treed. I will give you a shout today and make plans to come pick him up. Time to get him Home. I'm as healed as I'm going to get, which ain't as good as I would like but it is what it is. My Neck is fine but Back and Muscle Spasms still getting me Bad. Time for another round of Injections to get a little relief.

BLUE
MR. Jack came for a hunt last night and brought Blue Home. The hunt wasn't nothing to brag about but the company was good and I enjoyed it. They treed together on a track Blue got going and might have had the White Coon but not positive. There was a round white hump in the deep saddle of a gnarly oak that looked like Fur to both of us but just not certain so I won't claim we got the Ghost Coon Treed. Then BO made a tree deep in the Swamp but left it by the time we rode around. He heard Blue opening on another track and us in the Rhino I guess. I think he's Jealous of Blue like he was Bob because he sure don't leave trees. Saying he's just a Dog don't cut it with me. He do it again he's gonna run into me in the Dark of the Night half way to Blue. I Will Not Tolerate it. Bo checked Blues track according to the Garmin and went the Other Way and got treed on deeper in the Creek Bottom. He didn't want Anything to do with it. Blue left out fast with it and took it across the road and probably a mile from where he struck before we got him rounded up. He wasn't opening much and didn't like it but he sure ran something that wasn't right. Didn't run the figure eights like a Fox, and I don't think it was a Deer. I feel it was a YOTE. As MR. Frank Erwin used to say, " I had enough Misery for one night" so we came on in. Blue is Home for Good and its up to Me to keep him in the woods learning and treeing Coon. Lot of Work left to do to take this Natural Born Raw Talent the Next Step but it will Get Done. Need him Firing Harder, Deeper, and not checking in. Just takes Hunting. He will be 10 months old Thursday. Hoping he will tree a few Coons this week before the Leaves pop out on the Trees and I can put a couple down to him. Also have BO to get into shape and looking sharp before Bluetick Days. All I ask and Pray to the Lord is that He gives me the Energy and Drive without to much Pain so I can accomplish what is in my Heart. Without Him, it can't get done. Thank You Mr. Jack for hunting Blue some and taking Care of Him the 6 weeks while I healed. I'm headed to the Neurosurgeon Thursday and they will take X-Rays of my Neck to see again that its still Fusing around the Blocks correctly and also to discuss my Lower Back problems. I'm Not doing Surgery on it until I can't walk or get in so much pain I beg them to cut me. So I figure another round of Injections will be ordered. On the 6th I have Nerve Conduction test again on my Lower Half this time. Also have the other Carpal Tunnel Surgery to do but think I will wait until real hot weather to do it. Like July. I can give me and the Hounds a break then while I heal up and it's so Hot. Raining tonight so no hunting but tomorrow night, Blue will be on the Loose.

Having fun
Steve, The old and the young really enjoyed those hunts and I enjoyed it with them. Those kids really amaze me sometime at the things they do and say. you know you hear so much bad stuff that kids do now days. I'll have to say the kids that I am around a good bit and hunt with are some of the best mannered and polite that they could possibly be. Now don't get me wrong they are still kids and do kid things sometime, but a lot of times we will be walking to or from where the dogs are treed and one or two of these boys will be hanging back with me as I am usually behind, and we will be climbing a creek bluff or a small hill and these boys will tell me, give me your hand Mr. Jack to help me up the hill and I will take their hand wheather I need it or not, and tell them thanks Buddy I needed that, or they will tell me to let them lead that dog. They like to do it and it sure helps me. Steve, as for hunting
Blue the pleasure was all mine. I saw some things in him that I never saw in a lot of dogs especially at his age. I saw some of the same things in his dad and his mother. Things that you cant put there it has to be naturally Inherited. I hope that you continue to get healthier and finish him out into a dog like Bo is. You have done a wonderful job with Bo. I know of none better. A lot of the readers on here want to see the finished product in the lone survivor, including me.
BLUE
I have been hunting every night here lately. Blue has had some trouble with a Tough Coon in BO's Bottom. The Coon takes to the Big Beaver Pond as soon as Blue gets on his trail and Blue spends a lot of time swimming around in the deep water trying to figure it out. The second night the Coon did this to Blue, he got him out of the Pond but lost him in the Flooded Cypress Flat. I don't like to let one this young get discouraged on a Bad Coon so last night I Double Teamed him by bringing BO. He had his troubles in that Pond also when he was just over a year old but he's a Old Pro now to the Wicked Ways of the Beaver Pond Coons. Cut them last night under the Full, Bright Moon and sure enough they got after the Ole Warrior. BO came out the backside of the Pond and Blue got with him and they did a Fantastic Job trailing him on through the 10 acres of Flooded Cypress, down a Creek Drain, across the Sand Bottom Woods of where the River Flowed Long Ago. And up a Big Water Oak. 20 foot from that tree sat the other Coon. Bo was going between both trees letting me know there was 2 of them. That's why I like Pleasure Hunting so much. BO would have took Minus in a Hunt for moving between trees but to me it was an Incredible Job of a Loyal Hound showing his Master Both the Varmints. That's why Blue was having so much trouble by himself. The Coon were double teaming him in that Beaver Pond. Not any more. The Big Boar Coon died of Sound Shock from the Two Blues Blowing the Top Out below him. Me and BO going to Haunted House Bottom Tonight.
Went for follow up visit to my Neurosurgeon yesterday. Neck Fusion looks great but got another EMG Nerve Conduction test to do next week on my lower half. He said since my left calf muscle kills me all the time especially when I walk, they should have did an injection at L-3,4. The test will tell him the story and what they need to do. Also my mouth has been drooping and I feel it pulling down in the corner off and on. He saw it and is worried I might have had a light stroke so he's going to Order a Brain Scan if it persist or gets worse. I'm going to quit going to the DR just so I don't hear anymore Bad News. Just Hunt and Fish til I Croak.

HEALTH
Thanks Darren. We just got home from that Dr. Appointment and having the Nerve Conduction test and EMG done. Nerve Conduction they Shock you in different places a lot and the EMG they put long, small diameter needles into your muscles and move them around while looking at the readings on a computer looking machine. Wasn't any fun. She said my Muscles were as Strong as a 20 Year Olds. But my Pain is Strong to, from the Nerve being crimped by Severe Stenosis in L-5, S-1. Will meet with Neurosurgeon on the 19th. She said he would probably want to go in and widen the nerve canal opening to get me some relief. The 19th will be my LAST TRIP. Every Time I go it's something else. I am Not going to keep having things done to me. Tired of the Running up and down the road and all the needles they keep poking in me and the test being done. The past year has worn me out. I will just live with it unless he can Guarantee that what he wants to do will fix it. Glad to see you have some nice prospects and getting to hit the woods regular. Hope one of them makes the kind of Hound you love. Take Care.

BO and The Boys
We have had Mason's first cousins since Sunday and will have them all week. Ashlyn and Cayden. Cayden is 10 and had Never caught a Fish Or been Coon Hunting. Well, he has now. He caught his first Fish today from the Pier on the River and went hunting with me the past 2 nights. Him and Mason last night was a treat to listen to. We cut Bo loose down the Cypress Slough and Mason started telling him All his Coon Hunting Adventures. Bo struck over 700 yards deep and soon had him up a Tree. We rode closer but still had 500 yards to walk. The Good Lord was Hunting with us because we had a good opening to shine from and found the Coon quick. I hit the Squaller and he started down. I videoed it and stayed on that Sinker Cypress Squaller and he kept coming. BO heard and smelled him and was going Nuts. The Boys don't know how much that hunt meant to me. How special it was listening to BO do a good job, having a tree to shine that wasn't surrounded by a Thicket, finding the Coon and actually Squalling him Out. Those kind of Hunts don't happen around here much and to share it with my Buddy Mason and his Cousin was as Perfect as a Hunt I could ever hope to have. Thanks to the Good Lord Above, we made memories that I will think back on Many Times. And, One Day, those Boys will look at the old pictures and recall a Great Hunt with Ole BO.

Hunting and fishing
Steve,
I liked your story about the boy who had not been hunting or fishing before. I never thought about it before because my boys and myself have always been able to hunt and fish. To me it is the best therapy I guy can get. I sure enjoy the pictures of Mr. Jack and your hunts down there. Keep them coming and take care.

SPRING FISHING
Thanks Scott. Doing some Fishing now and caught a good many today and have the Bamboo Poles baited up tonight with small fish on number 12 Hooks. Looking to have a Monster Cat in the morning. Hunting some to and having some fair hunts. Went to DR on the 19th and he ordered a MRI of my BRAIN. Said the mouth drooping in the corners here lately is something going on in my Head. I told Beverly that's where I draw the Line. Enough is Enough. I will Never let anyone go into my Head Tinkering around, so I see No Need for MRI. Right now I Hope and Pray it's not a Tumor. An MRI Could and Would remove that HOPE if that's what it showed. Then where would I be? I will Hold on to my Hope and continue to LIVE and Enjoy Life until I Die. Not wanting to know what it is or it ain't. I will go in July and have Carpal Tunnel Surgery on my other hand, the Right one this time. Until then I'm Done with Doctors and Running up and down the Road. Scott, that Jimmy puppy is a good looking rascal and sounds like a Natural. I wish you the Best with All your Hounds but especially him. Take Care.

I'm sorry to hear about you problems. I know what you mean. It's been over 2 years and now they want to go into my brain and get a sample of whatever the heck it is. I already can't walk because of balance and I just bring myself to let the crack my head open. All this stuff sucks and the dogs and dancing is what I love and can't do either.
I'm not sure what the man upstairs has in his book for me. Only he knows. I will continue to fight till my last days. Take care of yourself my friend.

Treeing and Seeing Coon
Bo was 2 for 2 last night. Hunting just about every night and enjoying it. Been feeling pretty fair so not gonna complain. Rose treed good with her Daddy on the second tree. The Coon must have stepped on a slick slimy Snail because our the Tree he Fell. Me and Blue been in the woods a little but starting tonight he will be hitting it hard. He had Staff Infectuon get on his left ear and it was painful before the sores came out on it and I noticed it. He’s been on Antibiotics a week and is much better. I believe that was his problem that had me ready to find him another Home. He will be here a while longer I think. Getting Dark, Gotta Go.

BO
Still hunting about every night. Took Blue last night and he did a great job on a tough Coon in deep water and got him to the edge and treed him. Tupelo Gum with 6" of water everywhere. Sold him to Mr. Jacks friend Chris today. Blue needs the hair hunted off him at this point and with my health and BO, I just can't put the time in him he needs to reach his full potential. Wish Chris the best with him. Beverly and I left Saturday and made a trip to Kentucky to pick up a female pup out of a Cross I have had my eye on and I think will be a great one. Pup is off a top notch female owned by Tyler Nalley. She is a littermate sister to the Bam dog I had, off Boomer and Hugger 11. They bred her to BOCEPHUS. She is Half Sister to my BO dog. This is the 3rd or 4th half sister I have bought to him. Trying to get one that suites me and cross on BO one day. Hoping she's the one. Really like the Brains this pup has and her actions. Bold and into everything. We also went to Mammoth Cave and then on up the road past Lexington to THE ARK. Every Church in this Country should be Busing their members to Tour The Ark. The most Amazing Experience I have ever had. If you don't know GOD, you will by the time you leave the Ark. My new Pups name is, BOGUE CHITTO BLUE TABBY KAT. Pictures coming soon.

TABBY
BOGUE CHITTO BLUE TABBY KAT. Mason stayed with us since Friday evening and him and that Pup have been everywhere. She loves the Rhino and Jet Boat Rides. Very Smart and reminds me of how BO was from a Pup. Does not stay under you feet, bite on you or rear up on us or Mason. She investigates Everything. Very Mature. Loving everything about her so far. Mason and I hunted Friday night and BO and Rose ran one through the deep water and got him treed. Mason wore his WICK BOOTS for the first time and loved them. Thanks to Jody Smith for passing them down to another young man that loves this sport. We did a lot of Artifact Hunting yesterday and found a Lot of Nice Things. The more I study Old Artifact Books and try to think where I would have lived on this River back then, the More we are finding. Very fun Hobby but very Sad History and how the Indians were done. We are looking forward to our trip to Iowa coming up Soon. Please keep my Mom in your Prayers as she has had more trouble and bad news in her fight against Cancer and please Pray for Mr. Ed and Mrs. Mary as he goes through his Health Issues and trying to get it took care of. Good Hunting.

ROAD TRIP!!
We packing up for Iowa today and looking to head out tomorrow night. Was leaving sooner and hunting in Illinois for about a week then head to Iowa but Mr. Ed had some procedures done and not bouncing back quick as he hoped he would have. Please continue to Pray for him and Mrs. Mary. Hoping he will be up to making the trip to Iowa one day next week. Beverly, Bo and I will be doing some Antique Shopping, Site Seeing and Hiking in the Park. Hoping to hook up with someone Monday and Tuesday night to do some Pleasure Hunting and let BO stretch his Legs. Been hunting him and Rose and she's coming along nicely. Think she's going to make a real nice hound with a good mouth on her. Looks like some rain in the Forecast for that part of Iowa through Mid Week, then nice weather for the Hunt. Looking forward to meeting a lot of folks and talking with ones I already know. See Yaw Soon!

BLUETICK DAYS and HOT SUMMER NIGHTS
We had a Great trip to Iowa a couple weeks ago at Bluetick Days. We went up several days early and did some Antique Shopping, Sight Seeing and Pleasure Hunting. Thanks to Mike for letting me and Bo tag along. Iowa has Way More than their share of Coon. We probably seen 20 on Monday night and each night I hunted we saw No Less than a Dozen. Some were treed, crossing roads. setting up or out in fields. Saw more Coon up there in a week than I will see here over the next Year. I hunted Bo all 3 nights and he looked Good but not quite good enough. Got beat by 50 points Thursday Night and that dog made the final 4 that hunted the late round. Dead Cast Friday Night and all the dogs acted like Culls, including my Precious Bo, lol! Saturday night we had a cast of good dogs and got in the Coon. Bo had 375 but the cast winner had 525. Bo just couldn't get the strike on him and another dog. They kept it all night. Cast winner was King of Hunt. I was proud that I drew top hounds that placed high and won Bluetick Days. I learned More by Losing than I would have if I Won. Thoroughly Enjoyed Myself. Beverly learned a Lot with her Watchful Eye too. She was in the Truck and was my Map back to the State Park each night. Sure appreciate her and the Good Directions, didn't get lost the first time. Congrats to All the Winners. I enjoyed meeting and visiting with Everyone. Plan on doing a Lot more of these type trips in the near Future. Got a few things I'm wrapping up then hopefully we will get to Travel and meet a lot more folks and hunt in many new places soon. Had a good visit with Team Big Country at lunch on Saturday. One heck of a good group of Guys pushing a Fine Hound and Having Fun, that's what its All About. John Steeber stopped by the Truck Thursday night and we had a Good Visit. Enjoyed talking with him and hearing that he did some more winning with his nice hound at the hunt. Talked with Mr. Jim Combs and enjoyed our conversations. I will be writing the BBCHA NEWS in COONHOUND BLOODLINES each Month. It will start with the August Issue. Wanted to get it in the July issue but with Memorial Day Weekend and other things I was involved with when we got home I just didn't have the time to put a good, first time article together and I'm not going to just sling something together last minute. I will do my best each and every month. Anyone needing to contact me can text or call, 601-730-4505. Email is, sinker2016@yahoo.com Bo and I have done a Lot of Swimming since getting Home but No Hunting. I have been doing all I can building a Tractor Shed that will also have a Guest Room attached to it with Bedroom, Kitchen and Bath. I do what I can each day. Some days are better than others but with the heat I have nothing left for the woods at night. Will have the Roof on it soon and will slow down and get back to hunting.

SUMMER
I have had BO out a couple times in the past week or so but not hitting it like we should be. Working on a new building here at the house and it leaves me wore out completely at the end of the day. Will start putting the Metal Roof on it next week. Tabby is growing and weighs 35 pounds at 4 months old. She gets to run the River Sandbars and woods during the day and she stays busy. BO and ROSE will get a short hunt tonight. It is Hot and the Humidity is High. We had some Rain this evening and that helps.

Baseball and Blueticks
Been hunting every now and then. Not near like I should but just don't have the Go like I need to hunt in this Hot weather. Mason made All Stars and his team of 7 year olds Won District and are Champs. Went to the State Championship this past weekend and won 4 in a row and was the Only Unbeaten Team left. But then lost back to back games to Columbia. Columbia was Mississippi State Champs and Mason's Team, Pike County, was Runner Up. They are Both headed to Texas to the World Series next weekend. What an accomplishment and experience for these young men. So Proud of him and the Team. They lost that last game by one run and came off the field crying they were so disappointed they didn't win State. They wanted it bad. Hoping they Win it All in Texas. Beverly has been trying all day to book us something over there within an hours drive and no luck so far. We did get a Bungalow Booked for the Fall Roundup in October. Looking forward to Cooler Weather and a 2 week long road trip of hunting in thick Coon.
