I really appreciated this video because Twister is one of the two last pups produced by Dual Gr. Ch. PR T-Top Rabble Rouser. She just turned 3 years old and has pups from one litter on the ground...
This is a pup out of Twister and a nice Nt. Ch. male that Adam owns called Hank...treed at the end of a drag trail...
I can't remember how Hank is bred or the female that they brought to mate to old Rabble Rouser 3 years ago...I've asked Adam for that info and I'll update this when I get it. I guess that the other female mate to Twister is doing pretty good too and both might see the hunts in the near future. Keep your eyes open for pups from these two females because it looks like they might have something special to offer.

Training day
This weekend has been decent for our part of the country with yesterday being better than today because teh sun was out yesterday. It was kind of a damp and cold feeling day today but still above freezing and decent.
I've got two young dogs here that need work and although I prefer to wait until the ground opens up to begin training hard, I was stir crazy enough today to get these two youngsters out and see what they'd do.
The dark male is Dagger, an outstanding prospect out of Woofter's Ace and our Douke female...tight line bred cross to say the least...The female is a very tight line cross that we made last summer. She is 10 months old and this is the second time turned loose to find a live coon at the end of a drag...
Dagger...
Sugar...
Dagger and Sugar...
Sugar is a female that I kept around to give to someone else but it didn't work out for those folks so I kept her around. I like her looks and actions, she's put up to win on the bench, she's smart and she's coon minded since 3-4 months of age. She's wound about as tight as you can wind a cross and is looking good. She is recently sold and I wanted to make sure that she still knows what a coon is...and she didn't disappoint at all.
Dagger is also the result of an extremely tight line cross and he's as good a prospect at this age and stage as any I've started. I've had a feeling about this young male since I laid eyes on him the first time when he was just a little tyke at Dave's place...and now I can see what it is about him that has me so excited.
This is the kind of young dog that we're all looking for from how he's bred to how he looks, thinks and acts...it's all in there. I've said before that I know a dog will turn out and I'll say it again about this young male...he's going to light some fires and open some eyes before it's all done.
It feels good to be back in action, even though I know that we can have a lot of winter yet...it's good to see that these youngsters haven't forgotten what a coon is.

Pictures
Nice pictures Tom. Gun and Dagger look a lot like Ace with the Dark color. Dave
Ace
This is T-Top Ace out Of Yank and Grandson of Rabble. Sire of Dagger and Gun.
So far I am proud of what the young hounds are doing out of Ace and sure enjoy the pictures. We have some more little T-Top Aces that I believe will look like these in the future. Dave
Ace
Yes sir...I think Ace will make a mark also Dave, he's put together to reproduce and when crossed into his line, whether T-Top or Hoffmeister, I think he's going to make winners every time.
I've got two nice males here out of Ace and they carry the line the way I like to see it so both can bring me back what I'd like to have when mated right. The fact is that he carries the goods and I base that off the fact that he has young dogs on the ground that are doing their job at a young age and not just one or two from a litter but entire litters.
This spring will bring some interesting developments with Gun and Dagger and by next fall, the coons had best stay close to the den...eh?

Clyde
Hey Tom, I took Aces full brother Clyde out tonight. I didn't take the camera but I wish I had. It was a full moon night, crusty snow that had melted and refroze and I cut him in a logged out cut over. Not a formula for easy success.
He ground one out of that cut over and put enough speed on it to push it up a den about 200 yds out of the cutover. Locked down and let me know to come get him. He had one up a big oak den and I could see the meat up there in the hollow.
He's not flashy, but he is consistant, awesome around the house and knows when it's time to get fired up. Overall this Yank and Angel cross is a great one.
Aaron is saying some out of the second mating are turning it on too.
Hope all is well up there. See ya.
Clyde
It's good to hear from you Chris...I hear some good things about some others also and I would guess that as they mature into adult hounds, they'll put some fur in the shed and be something good enough to remember. I agree that Yank and Angel was a good mix and I wish we had figured that out before we did but...that's the way things shake out some times.
If Clyde comes on good enough to make a reliable and consistent hound, I wouldn't be afraid to mate him back on some of his line because it looks like they have the ability to put even better back into their offspring and that's what we're shooting for.
Time always tells the tale and the best we can do is to walk along the trail to see where it ends up. I know there are a couple of crosses that are pretty exciting to me using some of this young blood...we'll see how it all ends up.
Winter has been good so far, not much snow and temperatures that are easy enough to stand to this point. I'm just starting to work a couple of these youngsters again and as the weather warms, it will turn into some trips to the woods...and then we'll see which direction the trail turns...eh?

Update
Took Dozer to the woods with a nice grnt female. They made 5 trees.....2 dens....3 on the outside. Man I had a blast. Dogs did some great work, considering it was the 6th of February, on a clear night and one day from full moon on snow covered ground. Gotta love the Moose x Lienie cross.....

Update
Hey Dave...it's good to hear that you're still kicking...I'm glad to hear that Dozer still remembers what a coon is and it sounds like it was a fun time for sure.
We haven't been hunting for awhile but I've started messing with a couple of nice young dogs so we're looking forward to a fun spring and summer and all the way into next fall.
I'll look forward to getting together with you somewhere down the road and we'll put a couple of these nice youngsters out again. I'd like to see Dozer and Gun together now versus the first time we put them out together Remember our little escapade?
Anyway, it's good to hear from you...

Badger
Bret sent me a nice video of Badger treed...you can't see much but you can hear good enough...Bret has been kind enough to share Badger's progress on a regular basis and what he describes is what I'm used to seeing in a good young prospect. In Badger's case, he learned a lot of his business alone but he has progressed in leaps and bounds this winter and I'm impressed with both Bret and Badger.
This is a nice young hound... (click on the picture to see "hear" the video)
Again...it seems like these pups have been around forever going back to those first pictures of them all getting after the cage coon here in the yard. There's nothing I enjoy more than seeing these pups progress to their potential and to also see good dog people get to enjoy the process...like I said...it's not an event...it's a process.

Cold morning
It was a cold start to the day today with only 3 above zero and the wind blowing. No training today but hopefully tomorrow moderates so we can mess around a little bit again.
We haven't had much winter yet and I guess got kind of spoiled because 0 degrees isn't so bad for early February in this part of the country but it hasn't even hardly been close up to this morning so far this month.
My good friend Dave Woofter told me that it's cold in southern Ohio so I guess we're not the only ones waiting out a bit of cold weather but...it will change soon enough and we'll all be back in action.

Cold in Iowa
Woke up to 5 degrees this morning with about a 15 mile wind. Calving started here last weekend, but the last one i got was yesterday afternoon before the front moved through. Next week is supposed to be warmer and a chance of snow.

Moose, Willow and Frog Dog
That's a great picture Wendell and some pretty darned nice hounds all glued to one tree...gotta love it!
We had a little winter move through yesterday but not so bad and now it's supposed to warm up at least a little bit over the next 8-10 days so nothing to complain about.
The dogs look good.

It's good to see them light up and show some interest Carl, he looks like he's got some legs under him so I'd bet he'll be tagging along soon enough.
Hey John...those are two good looking pups, it looks like good color and a pretty easy going attitude but...then again...at that age, I suppose they're more worried about where their next meal is coming from than anything else...eh? They sure have nice expressions...it's fun to think about all that potential wrapped up in those little packages.

Tom
Wanted to let you know that Joe didn't do too bad the past couple of nights. He had a cast win last night with Andy. Don't know if they placed or not. Will talk to you latter.

Joe
That's good to hear Jason, I'm glad Joe is coming into his own and is getting with the program. I heard that you guys got a cast win with him last night...tenth place but it has to start somewhere...eh?
I got a call this afternoon from Mark out in Montana. He was on a big ridge so got reception and when I answerd, I could hear Cuz and Slim treed in the background. Mark said they were looking at a lion in the tree and I think he said it was the second one for the day and 24 for the season so far...that's a pretty good year.
Slim is by way of Moose and Leinie and a litter mate brother to Joe. Cuz is out of Yank and both are pretty nice young hounds. It will be interesting to see if Slim carries over his gains to the coon hunting game this spring but I'm going to guess that he will.
Every one of the pups from the Moose and Leinie litter are doing a nice job and not yet 2 years of age. It should be fun watching them mature and then see what else they have to offer.
