I hear that two 10 mos old Haze pups are really tearing it up in Wisconsin this week. Robbin's Hardwood Slam Dunk even caught one on the ground in a cornfield last night and got a little torn up himself.

Pups

There won't be in Virginia anytime soon, but there is a litter in western north carolina that are around 8 weeks or so, Kevin Edwards has those pups.....they are out of his nice CD female.

There may also be a litter due around the end of the year in Ohio, but I will let the female owner post for that once it's time. The female is a very nice female.....a nite champion plus more.

thanks for the interest in Haze. There are some interesting things happening in the next month or two so keep an eye out on this thread for updates.

I took 2 of my 10 mos old Haze pups out last night, Slam and Sheba. They both looked real good. This was only Sheba's 4th trip to the woods. I really like what Haze is producing!

Oh my goodness, just look at all of that Rusty X Ace blood!!! It is no wonder that Haze is such a reproducer of fine coonhounds. You should have named him Race. I think that I will change Sheba's name to Race. Or when I breed Tom Tom Turkey to World Champion Gr Nt Ch Reba then I can name one of those pups Race.

The Frog Dawg

Had a good hunt with Frog tonight. Took her out alone. Cold and the wind was blowing, figured it would still be a good night with the weather coming in tomorrow.

Turned her off the lead, she went 30 yards or so and struck. She got it moving and hauled the mail. Treed at only 200 yards in a monster pine tree with grape vines in it. The coon finally gave me a look, so he rolled out of the tree on the second shot. Nice boar coon. Frog did a nice job on it.

Then led her up to the upper side of the farm and turned her loose. She struck a cold feeder track and worked it for over an hour. I slipped in on her to watch her and maybe search a few trees while she was working. While I was watching her tracker light, she hit up a big poplar tree, but she moved on. I looked up the tree but didn't see anything. About 20 minutes later, a coon looked at me from that tree.....lol. The coon had been laid up for quite a while I'm sure and there just wasn't hardly any scent on the tree for her to stick it. I guess I could have helped her, but I just sat on the ground and waited it out.

Anyway.....I enjoyed watching her work tonight and it's nice to sit and watch a young dog start figuring things out on their own. Sometimes the action is a little slower but well worth it in the end.

Frog is out of Haze and Noah's April female.

Won't be hunting tonight.........to cold and windy for us around here.......coons will not be moving. Frog Dawg will have to wait til thursday night.

Of 31 dogs in Haze's pedigree, only 6 are not a Nt Ch or Gr Nt Ch. And 3 of those 6 are Mahogany Sweet Lulu twice and Hayes Ramblin Red Kate once. I know that people say titles don't tree coons but come on now. I bet Haze's papers could tree a coon if you let them flutter off in a wind. Rat X Raven, Rusty X Sis, Bomber X Bell, Rowdy X Brandy, Chief X Kate, Rusty X Brandy and last but certainly not least Rabble, the #2 current male, X Bombers Red Wire, the current #2 female. Here is a picture of a 12 mos old male out of Haze with a few coons he treed one night last week.

Actually, Rabble is on the historical list now. I just never updated Haze's pedigree........but it is worthy to note that Rabble is also sitting at 10% reproductive percentage with several more to come. that is pretty good.

Haze's pedigree is definitely polished up pretty good...

TT does look really good Richard. Looks like he has put a little weight on, I bet once he fills out when he gets older that he'll be a pretty good sized hound.

Took Frog out solo last night but not much was happening. Still a bunch of snow on the ground where I went. She cold trailed but never struck on the ground. She fell treed finally but I couldn't find anything. From what I could gather, the deer had been feeding in the day and were digging through the snow to get to the acorns........it looked like the coon were following them and eating where the deer had got down through the snow and exposed the ground. I think the coons had moved early in the afternoon.

We'll give it a try tonight. it's warming up so more snow should melt. Noah took out april and lucky, who is a littermate to frog, and treed two, so they had a good night.

Haze will be a performance sire for 2011.

Too bad about the Crank dog...Sorry to hear about it. Mike said that he thought there was one down in GA that was doing pretty good but had lost touch with the folks.

It's never easy to lose a nice hound like that, I hope you're able to find something else that you like as much as you did Crank.

Took Frog Dawg out for a drop tonight on the ridge in front of my house. She struck right away and ran the track about 300 yards by the garmin. She did struggle a bit and back tracked it about 50 yards, then went past it about 25 yards, then came in to the tree. She had two coons up and she got rewarded with one of them.

Frog has the potential to be a real nice dog, she is in need of hard hunting in coons. I believe she'll start looking much better with more repetition. I'm beginning to look for new hunting ground to try and get her in more coons. So hopefully, folks will be nice and give me permission to hunt. we'll see.
