Tom

I for one thank you for all the hard work and years of time it has taken to bring your line of dog to where it is today.
I am sure we have not seen the best of them yet. Jason and I have a few plans ahead of us we beleive will turn some heads.
The last two litters we raised mostly landed in GOOD hands. Im sure we will be hearing from them very soon.
We have three females we plan to breed to Deuce. They are all three a couple months late on there heat. But they will come around soon. Also there are a couple out side females that will be bred to Deuce. They are some nice females. It excites me just to think about these next generations.
Keep doing what you are doing. It works.

Congratulations

Nice job Aaron...that's pretty good work for a weekend of hunting. I saw the picture of you and Shadow...I'll have to say that I got kind of a kick out of it

I can see that Shadow is real excited to be up on that bench and I can see that you're real excited to be holding her up there

Just the same...congratulations on a nice showing this weekend, I'm happy as heck for you.

You're right...Char was "real excited" to have me home When I wasn't at work...I was working at home..but at least I got some of list done.

I also spent a lot of time back on the ponds...the one is turning into a real nice habitat...full of deer and coon tracks...good stuff. We'll turn the dogs loose back there some time when you're up for a visit and make a good time of it.

I found this back in the "archives". I guess that it is Gr Nt Cuz now and it looks like they dropped the "Crazy".

Wise words there Aaron...I can remember thinking like that a few times over these last 45 years of hunting with dogs. I can tell you now, after all this time...there's nothing like laying out watching the stars and then enjoying those moments when we go from wondering if they'll ever get treed to getting the chills when we hear that locate and then that steady tree bark. As bad as it gets sometimes, those moments when we know a dog has made the cut and is doing it right, are worth more than everything else that we put into getting them there.

You can't fool me Aaron...I know that you're a show man at heart and that there isn't a dog yet born that you can't handle on the bench...on the other hand...maybe you should keep treating ol' Tim right just in case you run into a tough nut that you can't crack...eh?

I like Shadow a lot Aaron, she has a great disposition and seems to only worry about about taking care of her business...when she grows up and matures, she'll be tougher yet. I'd bet she'll do her part to make an outstanding cross at some point also so only a bright future ahead of her.

Hey Richard...if folks would look back on this thread, they'd see quite a few youngsters that turned into something worth feeding in just a short amount of time. I've said it before and I'll say it again...there's nothing like seeing a good young prospect turn into something special...it's as good as it gets when doing anything with dogs...

Ride for Cherry

This is copied from another post...

Ride For T-Top Cherry From Tn. to Ohio
Tom and I are looking for a ride from American Redbone days in June from Tennessee back to Ohio for Cherry. Dave Geiger is bringing her to Redbone days for Tom. Tom wants to breed her back to Ace. I would like to get her as close to New Lexington, Ohio as we can. Let me know if you can help. Dave Woofter Phone 1-740-342-4257.

Dave matched Ace and Cherry once before, those pups are just coming 2 years old. We own a male from that cross that we call Gun and he was an early starter and a go getter from the start. Gun will make a splash in the breed before the year is done and some of his mates will do the same.

This was a good match and a very good cross of blood being strong on the T-Top line and going back to Pete and Bone and some others to make it as complete a cross as we could hope for.

If you're traveling to Redbone Days and can help get Cherry back to Ohio so Dave can get her picked up, it would sure be a big help.

Kind of a cool comparison seeing him two years ago as a pup and again as a big dog.

Redbone Days

We will not make it to Redbone Days in June this year. I don't know that we'll be at National Days either with the way work is shaping up this summer. We have been busier than heck and no let up in site...it's all good though...lots of folks around the country wishing for work but that's not a problem around our part of Wisconsin.

It sounds like some good friends are heading down to Tennessee and we wish them the very best.

We should start seeing kit coons on the ground in another few weeks and that will start a good stretch of training for a couple of these younger dogs.

I'll be having a few updates on here again with Gun and Dagger as our feature dogs for these next several months. They are both young hounds with lots of upside to them so we'll see what kind of summer dogs they are and what they make of themselves by next fall.

Good luck to everyone heading out to Amercian Days, I hope you have safe travels and lots of coons to tree.

I'll never forget the words of Dave Hodenfield,

his last days we talked,

"Pelzer, never give up family and fun for work, you'll never get those days back."

Now that is a good philosophy. I have always believed in that. I may not have much to show for it but I sure have had a lot of fun in my lifetime.

Good words, but it is pretty easy to get wrapped up in the moment at hand, which is usually solving one crisis after another. lol

Tim, are you talking about work or fun???? When I was younger this sounds like some of my "family" and a lot of my "fun".

Dave will be out of school by then. Just load him and one of those hounds up with that gang from the other side of the state and send him on down. I know that he will have a blast if he is with that group of heatherns. Or maybe you don't trust them?

Tim, are you going to bring Grizz over to Trenton now that he is in shape and doing good? Or has he been retired since he made Nt Ch?

Do you have any current pictures of dagger? Is he the real dark male that resembled Ratt?

This was dated 3/26/2010. What a plan. Wendy and her big sister Chick treed a coon together last night. It was a sight to behold. I wish that I had taken my camera along. Tom, you would have been proud.

I won't make it to American, but if the stars line up, I might make it to Brazil. Don't want to pass up a chance to go to an event in the west.

Wise words...

Going all the way back to Old Timer...wiser words were never spoken Dave...in those final moments we call on the wisdom we should have displayed every day of our lives...but most often we don't...I appreciate that little jolt of reality and so should we all...

The rest of you guys...we keep plugging along and soon enough we'll be back at it picking up where we last left off...new dogs and new adventures but always valuing our friends and the great times we've had and still yet to come. We talk about keeping our priorities straight...God...Family...Friends and then good times treating folks with respect and understanding and...for many of us...we can't get it all done without these Red dogs playing a major role.

I look back on this thread and I see many of these nice hounds that folks are hunting and winning with and remember some of them as pups that could barely waddle around the yard at one time...now all grown up and doing their business like they were bred and born to do.

Richard...I would have loved to see that pair up on the wood...one far enough along to show what she is and the other just far enough along to show what she can be...that's good stuff and makes those tough nights in the woods worth the effort...eh?

Yes...Dagger is still here and yes...he's the "REAL" dark male that reminds me of old Rat. He'll get his work pretty quick along with Gun...I hear word that the kits are starting to come down in the southern part of the state so won't be long before they'll be down here also and then we'll put these youngsters into some good situations and then we'll be back in business.

If something changes...maybe I'll make Brazil Indiana but Trenton is out of the question. In the mean time the days will turn into weeks and months and it will be fall again before we know it...too bad we have to put up with summer and winter to get back to fall...eh?

Good luck to everyone making the trip to Trenton...I'll be looking for news every day you're all there and hoping for the best.

Hand full

Seems like you've got your hands full there Richard...those nice young pups that show good interest at that age, keep the fire burning for sure. Usually, the turn out rate is directly related to the effort put into and the attention given to them and it looks like you're good on both fronts.

We'll have something cooking again before too long but it's good to see some of those really nice looking pups starting to grow up a little bit so we can see what kind of interest they have...good stuff...
