It looks like y'all quit early. I was way too hot and tired to be posting on the interweb when I got home at 5 AM this morning. I made the mistake of cutting Wendy, Winnie and Bucky loose after the PKC hunt. Jason, I hope that you do better with Wilma at your hunt tonight than I did with her brother, Bucky, last night.

The Va Cartel..... Where Tree Dogs Are Born Not Made......

Move over big Sis and let me show you how it's done....

Can you guess which one of these is Big Mouth Wendall? (Hint: he doesn't have enough nerve to get up on the tree himself but he can sure back the others up.)

Boy you named him wrong I have never been afraid to belly up to a bar or a buffet for that matter

One of my Boone X Wendy pups got deathly ill when he was 10 wks old and I raised him in the house. He quit eating and got down to just his skin and bones and all of his hair fell out due to fever and strong antibiotics, but he survived. He is only half as big as his littermates now and his hair was real light when it grew back in. My wife named him Lightning and she asked me today, "why don't you let my dog see that coon"? So here is Lightning at 11 mos old now.

Bond, I think that I named him correctly. As you can see, he is first in line at the feed bowl and is always ready for a good arguement. He only stands back when there is an actual fight involved.

I guess that Bond was the only Cartel member to go to a hunt this weekend. He got another Ch win on Rachel Saturday. It won't be long before she is a Dual Grand.

Congrats

That's great ! :-)

I tried to do a little more training last night. I turned a coon loose and gave him a 30 min head start while I came back home and got one 2 yr old and two 11 mos old pups. They trailed that coon for 2 hrs, from 10:30 until 12:30. According to the Garmin, they traveled 2 miles. I guess that the coon just didn't want to climb. I finally had to catch them because they trailed up to someones house at 12:30 pm. Oh well, there is another coon that is going to live behind a house and get me in trouble some night. Why do some coons run up the first tree they come to and some refuse to climb? I guess that I am going to have to get me some smarter pups or a dumber coon.

She was a little late this year. I wonder if she will be out of her stupid phase in time for Autumn Oaks? Do you need a good puppy trainer or are you just going to take a 3 week vacation? I am meeting P Mike in Pigeon Forge Monday.

Posted by Richard Lambert on 07-18-2015 04:52 PM:

WB, are you going to the big benefit hunt in Clifton Forge today? I guess that you are the only Cartel member that is hunting now. Our fearless leader's namesake, Bucky, treed a coon by himself last night but it was after he had caught a skunk. My Jeep sure smells good this morning. Jason, give me a call if you want me to send Wendy up with P Mike. I don't need her now. Bucky and Winnie are my new pup trainers.

Allison and I don't have room for a big dog Richard.

Wendy isn't that big, wait until you see this pup. Jason, I guess that you are just on vacation for 3 weeks.

Posted by Richard Lambert on 07-19-2015 03:35 PM:

Oh my goodness, I just heard last night that the coons are already in the corn fields hot and heavy up in Indiana. I guess that I will have to head up there with my pups pretty soon.

Posted by wbond on 07-20-2015 04:35 AM:

Richard I decided Friday night with temperature at 75 degrees and humidity at 90 to 95 % I am taking a break too went off the the north step and rocky to Storm she was hot tongue hanging out but she had a pair of eyes up that tree but by the time I pulled back to the truck I was ringing wet you would of thought I had been swimming

Well, I guess that the whole Va Chapter of the Cartel is officially laid off for a couple of weeks now, or in the case of one member...on a sabattical. The humidity is what makes it so tuff. But when the going gets tuff, the tuff get going. Bucky, Minnie and myself took the night off last night for my anniversary but we will be back at it tonight. I have pups to train. They are just about ready to go to town.

Posted by jguilliams on 07-20-2015 05:15 PM:

Well I did hunt one night this past week and treed one around a corn field. I know where two more are as well.
I went to a hunt on Sat night but decided not to enter with the three other males in the NC cast. Had to go and make sure someone would show up.

I am glad to see that at least one Cartel member is out there trying. I guess that your lil Chickaboonies aren't going to need a "pup trainer". Maybe I can just come up there for some cornfield races. It would be closer than Indiana. I bet that my lil Boonies and your lil boonies could really tear up a big cornfield. We could keep packing dogs in like the bear hunters do.

Posted by jguilliams on 07-22-2015 03:49 PM:

Come up any time after next week. I have plenty of corn fields right now and am locating where I have activity. I checked another spot after I talked to you but it is a little behind. It will be right in two weeks.

Sounds good, Jason. Bond, have you been out looking for any cornfields?
