Hey BB...nice job!

Like I said before, it's a process...not an event and the best that it can ever be is that we enjoy the process as much as we can. I'm not there and I've never had the pleasure to watch it all take place in person...but I'll have to say that I'm enjoying the process right along with you...I guess there's more to the process than just having a dog turn out...eh?

There are some nice, young, talented hounds making their way into the picture and it seems like you've got a couple of them right there...nice.

I'm starting to pick it up and get to the woods with my two young prospects also and if I can make it happen like you have been doing, it's going to be an entertaining fall for sure.

If folks who look at this thread don't get anything else from it...they should all note that this is about doing things the right way, creating friendships with people we may never ever meet and even though never face to face...we can still feel and enjoy the excitement as if it's happening directly to us...how much better can any of this be???

I'm happy and pleased to have somehow been...in some small way... connected to it all.

To anyone interested...don't let the little things get you down...remember that what you invest is what you will get in return so be realistic with your expectations and give your dogs the honest chance they deserve...eh?

Five weeks and counting until hyde season opens. Time to fire up,worm and give a round of doxy. Starting to get pumped up.
Took Squirrel out for a walk. She's got quite the nose on her. She was finding dead things I sure don't want her messing with when they're alive. LOL Taking her back there today to see if the the switch to her backside took.
Elbow is healing up pretty good from the car wreck last Sat. I dug 2 pieces of glass out of it Sun. Cars, trees, door glass and elbows just don't mix.

My son spent the last two years building a car from the ground up. Honda crx. Built it to race on some circuit. Been bugging me about going for a ride. So I do. He lost control in a corner and we ditched it. Hit a tree on my side. I braced myself for impact. My arm was on top of the door. when we hit the tree. My elbow blew thru the door glass. It sounds worse than it could have been.

`Believe it or not. I got it on video. Go figure. I sent it to you in a pm. There were some f- bombs dropped by my son.

Excitement....

It was an exciting couple of moments there Scott...I don't blame him for the F-bombs...he had Dad along side and ditched the "machine"...heck of a deal.

On the other hand...it never hurts to have another little something to hold over the kid's heads...eh?

I'll bet there were some stiff muscles to go along with picking glass out of your elbow...we don't realize how hard we tense up when we're "goin' over the edge" but we usually will feel it plenty good a couple of days later.

I hope you recover and don't leave any window glass in there...it might cause problems when you're pullin' hides off those coons

Squirrel hunting and bow hunting opened today so that means we're a step closer to the good days of fall. This morning was cool and the sky blue and the air clean and fresh...it can't hardly get better than that.

If I don't cave in for some reason today...I'll be at it again tonight with the dogs.

You know how it is. You just suck it up and get on with it. I did go to the bone crusher this morning. I needed an alignment.

I took all three out last night. First drop I had to shut them down. They were headed for the road. Love them E-collars.
Second drop yotes were moving in on two sides. Got out of dodge.
3rd was better. JJ put one up right quick.. Recast her off the tree and she ended up in the beans. 45 minutes later she put another one up. She kept throwing these long bawls in the beans. The garmin showed her treed. There's no trees out there. So I walked toward her. Here she was leap frogging over the beans. They're just a big snarley mess. She was beat after that.
Had Squirrel with on the first drop. We covered about 3/4 of mile. I put her in the crate inside the truck. She was out. LOL
Have piks, but photobucket is down. I'll post them later.

I'm putting a new headliner in the jeep. Got tired of the other one bouncing off my head. Went camo. Looks pretty cool.

After last night, I think that I am going to have a real fun Fall with my girls this year. I snapped a couple of pictures with my new Bushnell "camera" and downloaded them to storage in my brain. I was home at 10:30 with a big grin on my face.

Shoot Richard. I was just heading out at 10:30. I even managed to get a swim in last night. My voice changed a little.
Hit a new spot last night. About a 2 mile square of ditch/tree lines and lots of corn and beans. Dogs were thoroughly worn down by the end. 3 hours of back and forth between the corn, beans and one deep, skunky smelling, silt filled ditch. I won't be going back there until its all picked.
Squirrel disappeared on me last night. I forgot to put the bell on her. Found her about 50 yards from me. Nose down and just walking about.
Just like her momma used to do to me.

I have had a couple good nights with Jr. Had a couple real good tracks and treed with the meat. Have trouble with photobucket so no pictures for now. Last night treed one in a small tree in the middle of some multifloral rose so thick i had too bust a path thru very nasty. When i went to the tree a coyote barked at me all the way to the tree after the last run in with them i wondered what would happen. But they stayed right there treeing.

That's good to hear Carl, it sounds like you'll have a good fall with those nice Red dogs that you have there. We're going to get out tonight and hopefully wear some of the fat off them...and me...but it's something that has to get done if we're going to work them hard like we usually do all fall and early winter.

Tonight is supposed to get down into the upper 20s so although it's real dry, at least it will be cool enough to make it enjoyable out there.

We'll see if we can get some good pictures tonight but Yank and Dagger haven't been out since last fall and Gun only once or twice so I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes...eh?

Keep at it with those nice hounds there Carl, the season is right around the corner.

Hunt

We went to the woods tonight with Yank and Gun and had a good hunt out around the house. We turned them loose 3 times and made 3 trees with the meat. Yank slammed the first one with Gun backing him quick and on the next one, they both loaded up on what we think was a layup. We turned them loose from there and they ended up about a quarter mile in when they opened, ran a track, located and treed together. It was a huge oak and they had the meat again. At that point, we headed home and ended it up on a good note.

This first tree was hard to get into to get a picture but I did the best I could...

Yank...as good as I could get him...


Gun with Yank in the background...It would have been a great picture but it was spoiled by that branch...it was just to thick to get positioned good..

Yank hasn't been to the woods since last fall...I think around November...maybe once in the spring...I'm not sure but he's one of those dogs that knows his business and gets the job done under most circumstances. We gave them one of the coons they treed and it was all they needed.

Dagger will be going the next time out...he's coon crazy and ready to roll. Leinie is in heat so she's penned up and couldn't go along tonight but she serenaded us all night long from her pen We weren't that far from the buildings so there was no getting away from it...and she's got a big mouth...

It is miserably dry out there and not really good ground to put young dogs out on but...it's what we have to deal with so we might as well do what we can.

It was a good time.

She's looking good...on the wood. And she's good looking too based off what I can see

I did a little training yesterday with a bunch of nice pups and I was excited to see the results. I was messing with them by myself so I couldn't get pictures but it was a good result...it's going to be a fun Fall training season.

I like the way some of these youngsters are starting out. It's always so interesting to see how times change but how some things seem to stay so much the same...eh?

Nice job with those youngsters Richard, it takes time and some effort but it's nice to see that investment pay off with that kind of good result.

I can't hardly wait for next weekend...it's a great time of year.

Pics of Training Day

Since you weren't able to get pics of your training Tom, I just post these. Turned out pretty good.

My dad and I loaded up Hazel and Addy with Locket (our lead dog with the collars on) and headed to the farm across the road this evening.

I made the drag and we turned them loose and this was the result.

Hazel and Locket........Addy was still running around not knowing what was happening yet.



Addy finally noticed the coon and decides to join in.



Then she decides to try putting her feet on the tree


Finally on the wood


Then the reward for a job well done.
