I guess I better get Gambler used to his water wings and flippers, if I'm going to defend my puppy water race champion title. Our Water races in Idaho are in a few weeks and the Canadian dogs have a head start on us. Maybe I'll make a call to the border crossing station the night before the field trial, and tell them strip search any Canadians entering the country with hound dogs. LOL Good Luck Brian and Brent.

OOOHHH, I never thought about that.

You just gave me a great idea though. If I use the right bait to distract them, I should be able to sneek anything across the border.

Please do not take offence to my questions. Just consider me ignorant about the bloodlines of big hounds, but would like to understand more. I run English Coonhounds on bear, well I should say I am trying to run them on bear.

What is a Lightfoot English? Am I correct in assuming it is just an English Coonhound that a kennel has been breeding and is saying they are different in some way than other English breed Coonhounds, or are they something along the idea of, for example, Treeing Walkers, and Running Walkers. This may be a silly question but I see a lot of build up, or promoting of the Light foot hound.

LMAO

This reminds me of the Old question.

Do You Still Beat Your Wife ???????

However, Let's see what we can make of this.

Your Statements/Questions were.

1.Just consider me ignorant about the bloodlines of big hounds

2.Am I correct in assuming it is just an English Coonhound that a kennel has been breeding and is saying they are different in some way than other English breed Coonhounds.

3. I see a lot of build up, or promoting of the Light foot hound.

Now let me address these Statements or questions.

The Light Foot Hounds are a very old bloodline within the English breed. I and many others consider them to be different than most other English Bloodlines for the reasons I have listed below.

1. Light Foot dog's have been line bred for over 60 years. Out crossing has been done only when, That out cross was thought to be able to improve the bloodline. The goal has always been Breed Better Hounds, Not buy them, Or make excuses for them.

2. The main Breeders of the Light Foot kennel have been fortunate in that we have never needed to make money from our hounds. This has allowed us to make decisions strictly on what we have believed was in the best interest of the hounds. We have never let the cost of doing anything keep us from doing what we felt was Best for the Bloodline.

3. The Breeders of the Light Foot bloodline share a great passion for these hounds. At times Some people have considered that to be offensive. I will stand by anyone who has something that they believe in, I believe that being passionate about your hounds is not a flaw but a virtue. We are all in this because we are hounds-men. I fail to understand why Anyone would be offended by someone else feeling strongly about anything. I have No wish to Understand that mind set. I try to be a better person than that.

I hope this has addressed your Statements/Questions. I can only assume that you posted with sincerity. I can assure I have answered your post with sincerity.
I can honestly tell Any and All reading this, I am indeed Proud of the Light Foot hounds and I am Proud to have such a Great group of Hounds-Men hunting them. I hope that all breeders of hounds feel the same about the hounds they breed and the hunters hunting them.

Thanks,
As I read this I am thinking that a Lightfoot English is in comparison to the Patch hounds in the beagle world. I was wondering if line breeding and inbreeding was done in the big hounds. I have not heard of this with the big dogs. Inbreeding and line breeding is a big practice in the beagle world. It is a very controversial subject. I would like to have a better description of the quality and traits that are breed for. If it would be easier you can e-mail me personally.

Thanks for your patience
