Just a thought

Isn't $25 getting little high for open ukc hunt? 2 hunts close to house this weekend one was single other was double header. Thought might well go double looked see what entry deadline was entry fee $25. Single hunt is $15 and I prefer the 2 hour hunts. $50 just seems high to hunt for win slips.

We charge $20 on regular hunts that aren't slams as do most clubs around here. Our entries were $15 prior to UKC raising their rate to $7 a dog from $2. Then the clubs still have to pay $25 for a single hunt or $35 for a double header. For alot of clubs that were already charging a $20 entry fee they raised it $5 to cover the extra expense.
Here in Mo as you probably know we have a $20 field trial license fee every time we have a hunt they are only good for up to 10 days. Some clubs pay a building rental fee and others that have their own have cost to keep the lights on.
$20 was right for us but for some depending on turnout they could easily be in the hole.

I understand a club has to do whatever is needed to keep doors open and I'm not knocking anybody. And I can understand $25 for single hunt. But $25 a round seems little high but each there own.

What's entry on your double headers?

$20 a round. UKC fees are $7 per dog entered plus $35 for the double header and $20 for the MO field trial permit. We also do free biscuits and gravy.
All ours that aren't $ slam hunts we do a $20 entry fee. Slams are $35 per UKC and they have a 50% cash payout and you still have to pay the above fees from clubs part.

I don’t understand your train of thought, if you go to two single hunts and pay $25 to enter gas and food to both you will be out $75 easily for each hunt. If you go to a double header and pay $25 entry twice one round of gas and other expenses you would have paid approximately the same $75 to enter 2 hunts. Do you feel shorted because they are 1 hour hunts possibly? Maybe you need to think of it as attending 2 separate hunts, the double header will be more bang for your buck every time.

You make a good point. But all I saying seems high to charge $25 around. There are several clubs still charging 15 or 20 for single. I do prefer the 2 hour hunts and not saying wont go to double with $25 entry fee. Just seems little high to me considering the club is having 2 hunts pretty much for price of 1 there cost. But whatever works for club keeps doors open and gets most entries go for it.

Fees

Most all clubs do double headers it’s the same charge from Ukc, I understand your point, bottom line is everything is getting more expensive and club expenses are more on top of the extra 5 dollar fee per dog from ukc

Curious why ukc went up $5 a dog. That is a rather large increase. No judgements just curious

So that way they can cover the cost of the Tournament Of Champions. They will have to get some money out of pocket but not as much. Cause I highly doubt 40,000 dogs hunt in ukc hunts in a year, but maybe

I would agree as well now, just counted and was close to 120 hunts just this weekend and that’s as single hunts not double headers. Didn’t realize their was that many hunts scheduled.

Business

I bet if they would Ukc can tell you an average over several years now many dogs are hunted per year. Right along with the number of litters that are registered and what it cost to run Ukc for a year and an outlook for future profits. If not then there business needs a new accountant. They've been around along time. About like an insurance company or casino, they ain't keeping the lights on by losing money. The magic $7 per dog I'm sure was weighed out like when mcdonalds went from a double cheeseburger for 99 cents to the mcdouble for a $1. One penny more and a piece of cheese less equals how much after loss of customers and advertisement. Money makes the world go round boys.

Hunts

I remember paying around 8 to 10 dollars in the early eighties so that would be about 30.00 in today's money
