How bout some insight

I have been thinking of crossing Border Collie and hound or cur. I know I'm not reinventing the wheel here, how bout some insight on which way to go, or how it has turned out in the past?

It has been done. Seems like you see it up around In, Oh, Il that area the most. Usually cur will be the outcross. I have known of some that were good on coon or squirrel. Personally, I have zero experience with it.

cross

I have hunted a good bit with a Canadian cur here close. Its a fine dog. I am fascinated with a couple border collie crosses, that are just mutts. One of them is a fine pleasure squirrel dog. The other has something treed all the time.

I was actually thinking about a plot I have, I also have a Nch redbone coon hound that is a really good hound. Handles like a Border collie, with a good nose, hard tree dog and honest. I wouldn't be opposed to a cur cross for squirrels. Its gonna happen soon. I know its be done a good deal, hopefully someone will chime in.

I have found the border collies used on cattle make the better crosses the ones I have seen used on sheep were a touch soft. if your going to cross a border collie try to cross it with a inbred or linebred proven dog. your results will be much higher

No, the fellows name is Travis Fisher. The dog came from Peterbourgh or something close, north of Toronto. I have actually been there years ago muskie fishing.

About 4 I think, pretty solid dog. Kinda big 60 lb prolly. Nice dog, misses a good deal with its eyes. Very hard tree dog, squirrels get away while it is treeing. Once again very solid dog, will catch lots of game, coon and squirrel both. the dog has been fixed, or I would cross it on something here.

thank you sorry to be a pain but can you post a picture of him.last year I trained a inbred cc dog for a friend in ny. shes bred from full brother and sister. she hunts on a dead run never slows down. has treeded many coon behind many hounds. also shes got a heck of a nose for working up cold coon tracks, and shes a great wee squrr dog to boot. as a coon dog her biggest fault is most of the time she hunts around 200 yds. but if she hits a coon track she will take it 1000 yds to tree it. this year I have her full sister to train I just started her so kinda early to judge. other than same deal hunts runs none stop about 150 yds thanks again. ps if this one turns out I might breed it to a border collie time will tell keep you posted

Who has CC

I started to try them once a few years back, never did now I'm dogless and considering it again if I can find one. Prefer female dogs.
