Flea medicine

What is the best that people use for fleas on their hounds? Or what to use for kennels

Fleas

I have used Simparica (Now use the Trio) for several years. Haven't seen a flea in years. Also very good at controlling ticks. Don't think anything is 100% on ticks but it's very effective.

FLEA AND TICK REPEALENT

GET RID OF EVERY RABBIT YOU SEE AROUND YOUI

USE IVOMEC ONCE A MONTH TENTH OF A CC PER 10 LBS IS OR HALF THAT WHICH IS WHAT I DO

GO TO TRACTOR SUPPLY PICK UP A BOTTLE OF PERMETHRIN 10, IT IS THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT IN FLY SPRAY FOR HORSES AND IT IS ALSO IN YOUR HIGH END HUNTING TICK REPELENTS. YOU CAN ALSO USE IT ON YOURSELF TO KEEP TICKS OFF. IT IS CHEAP AND IT LASTS FOR A COUPLE WASHINGS ON CLOTHS. I MIX ABOUT 1 OZ TO A TSC SQUART BOTTLE MAYBE A QUART. SPRAY IT AROUND YOUR KENNELS AND ON DOGS JUST DONT GET IT IN THERE WATER BOWLS OR EYES

PROBLEM SOLVED

I give 1.5 ccs of 1 percent ivomec about every 3 months and a 60 pound dog is a flea killing machine

I've been using Ivermectin for over 20 years and fleas almost ate my dogs alive until I started using Nexgard and Simparica.

Many people use .1 mil per 10 lbs of body weight which is .5 ccs for a 50 lb dog per month…many have said the fleas got immune to that formula…and then if the floor is dirt it is harder to keep them gone…i have my dogs on concrete and wash down every day…and no fleas for years

1.5 cc’s every 3 months equals to .5 cc’s per month…i use this as my measurement in making sure I don't overload the dogs system…i use this recipe for heartworm prevention as well…the logic is simple…heartworms mature at 6 months, so 1.5 cc’s probably will kill larvae for at least 1.5 months if not longer…so any larvae will be in its early stages and then it is time to feed 1.5 cc’s again…
I mix it with something tastey like meat gravy, just enough for them to lick the bowl clean but not enough to dilute the ivomec.

I used to do the same…years ago the worming pills used for worming dogs must of been pretty harsh on dogs because they refused to swallow them…mixing with food they could sniff them out…it was definitely a negative on account the dogs lost some of the trust they had for me especially when I forced the pill down their throat…now a days the wormers are designed to have flavor that most dogs will eat…i mix something tasty for the dog to maintain trust…and even better when they perceive it as a treat…

Save yourself money and time and simply put your dog on a monthly flea/tick regimen of Nexgard or Simparica. We've been ordering ours out of Australia for years from vetmedsforpets. It's about half price of US vets office and no prescription needed. Order the XL and cut it in half. Within about 30 minutes your dog will not have a live flea on them and any that bite them will die very quickly.
** because your dogs have had fleas you need to use a eormer thar kills tapeworms so something that contains praziquantel.

I have done this for a “l o n g” time—

Diesel fuel. I learnt this from an old foxhunter many years ago. If you don’t know what you’re doing, DO NOT USE IT!!!

I first pour a little in a shallow pan and let it set out to evaporate the volatile hydrocarbon's for a day or two. I take a rag and wipe the inside of the dog house down good. I have also wipe the hounds down too but you better know what your doing.
