They go hunt for cash.

Posted by Ashley Pratt on 06-02-2019 04:53 PM:

I agree with that. They’re hunting for cash but with that being said there was 40 dogs at the RQE in Troy, Iowa last night and several were prominent PKC hunters so apparently people are seeing the money incentive for the UKC World hunt.

Or they go pleasure hunting just because they love to hunt.

Too many RQE's!!!

Posted by Blaze P. on 06-02-2019 06:22 PM:

Maybe in spots, but definitely not around here. Flora rqe drew less than 15, Robinson not many.

Sorry chuck, I mistook it for where the competition hunters went. Most pleasure hunters now never went to many if any hunts before, around here anyway, so I don't see that as a reason in decline of entries at ukc hunts.

There was an rqe and a $$$ 500 added close to each other last night up here. 10 casts at the rqe and 6 at the added purse hunt.

To the ones with plenty of hunting territory, you are fortunate. Around here, South Ga, hunting land is drying up faster than water in the desert. Clubs have folded up, hunting land lost, and people just quit.

I just enjoy going hunting, don’t like going to the hunts no more, just don’t have the energy in me to drive all that way to do all that walking. I’m lazy but I hunt 7 nights a week and have for years. I’d rather go set on the tail gate and bs with a few buddies and ride my atv when they get treed and talk about how I don’t like my dogs.

Jason/ole hoss

That's what most of us old times done, we hunted just to enjoy the sport, b's with friends and talk about how sorry our dogs were. Now , we sure did not want someone else telling us how sorry our dogs were, we reserved that privilege for ourselves. Lol. Dave

This has put a big hurt on the hunts and I'm with you. I enjoy going to my local UKC hunts but a lot of the time me and a buddy just go instead. I've lost my competitive edge and enjoy time with my friends a lot more. There are still a lot of pleasure hunters but the numbers at the comp hunts are suffering. The sport overall is, some of it is social stuff but most of it is loss of hunting land. Its hard for a dad to take his son coon hunting when he doesn't have anywhere that is enjoyable to take him.
