Check This Out !! X-Bred Presentation

Been working on this project and it turned out pretty good I think. This is the actual power point presentation regarding changes to single registration (X-Bred) presented at Autumn Oaks WITH voice over which explains it in a little more detail.

Let me know what you think. Should we do more of these on other subjects related to registration and/or events? Feel free to offer topic suggestions.

Thanks Autumn. I'm surprised there are not more comments. Is that because it's too long? Are some of you starting into it and then saying heck with this and backing out? That's fine if that's the case. Just wondering on a target for presentation length to hold someone's interest. There is only so much info you can provide on any topic with a target of five minutes. Am just wondering if this was too long for someone to invest the time to watch it?

I have a question. I think I heard in the presentation that the x bred would make the purebred breeds more pure. I don't understand how that can be if after 80% of the specified breed is achieved the next generation can then be registered back in as pure bred? I could've heard it wrong, but couldn't find that part again. I understand that each breed has the option on how they want to handle this, but I was just curious about the above statement on making it more pure bred.

The theory that X-Bred will keep the purebreds more pure is based on the fact that previously, we were bringing 50% crossed dogs straight into the breed as a purebred. That, and even with breeds that were closed to single registration, some cross-breeding activity did exist behind the barn without being disclosed at all. Well all know that.

That's why I think the opportunity to out-cross under a more structured program will a) keep the purebreds more pure (not bringing in dogs less than 80%) and b) give our customers a more honest avenue for registering coonhounds.

Good presentation!

I do have a question it said x breed will house dogs that their color disqualifies them from being in a breed organization does this mean the black and white dogs their registering as blues will have to go to the x breed? In my opinion I think that's what should happen.

Dogs with disqualifying color faults will be handled on a case by case basis.

What exactly do you mean by case by case? Out of curiosity

I don't know how it's going to work out until we get into it. I'm just saying color dq's can be very subjective and we will handle those individually I'm assuming.
