If you could only pick 1 stud dog that you considered the total package ( had the looks, mouth, was a coondog and reproduced) out of all the blueticks you have ever known, who would you pick? And what was he out of?

Leon's Darkside

Leon's Darkside is who I'd pick and his Sire is Northern Blue Son and his Dam is Midnight Blue Ring. He is toughing some pretty good pups and they're good looking hounds to boot so he is who I'd pick. William's Blue Luke is out of him and a female called Raven I believe is her name and he is making quiet a name for himself.

Bo botson's holly creek treeslammin Smokey dog was a very complete package. Hard to find every thing under 1 collar. Matter a fact impossible. Smokey could do everything you listed though.

Blue Bawling Rebel! The total package. If I have to choose just one that’s living. There are several nice ones to choose from but he is a looker, a winner and a reproducer! Out of banjo and squirt.
All time would be too tough to pick

And ridge runner Luke is out of leon and speck. Littermate to get hooked. Luke will be high on this list very shortly.

I remember him having a good percentage but cant remember what it was. Do you remember? Piazon is up there and still climbing also.

HISTORICAL is figured off of total number of titled dogs and not percentages like the CURRENT.

There were several dogs that had a better percentage, but none had more than 97 titled offspring as far as I know.

That's definitely worth bragging on some. Heck 97 titled hounds, alot of stud dogs don't even have 97 dogs permanently registered out of them.

But this thread wasn't a my dogs better than yours. I was just looking for some honest opinions. Thanks for all the input.

97 titled hounds is, in fact, an extraordinary accomplishment. Hawk was the stud of his time. It was hard to go to a hunt and not see a dog out of Hawk there. They were mostly very nice looking dogs with good mouths and good tree dogs. My hat is off to Lonnie for his accomplishments as a breeder. This was before the internet and stud ads that you could bump to the top every morning.

For the record, my all time favorite stud dog was Slife's Rambo. I raised 2 littters off of him. Each litter had a dog that made a world hunt final four. He was a good looking dog. Had a huge mouth with an incredible locate. Moved a track well. Reproduced some super nice hounds. His sons were incredible reproducers as well.

I had one out of one of these litters. A natural COON DOG from a young age. Ran and treed the first time in the woods ahead of a older dog. I let a friend of mind have him because I could not haul him at the time with young children at home and finishing my education. I had to much respect for this young dog and his ability to let him sit in the pen. He got killed at a young age if not he would have made his mark. I would have put him in the woods with any thing in the world as a one year old and would have expected to win. By far the best young hound I ever had any dealing with. He had ALL the tools a man wanted.

Ok thanks for the info on who Luke's dam is I got mixed up there thank you for the correction. Leon is throwing some very nice hounds and I'd really like to get my hands on a pup outta him.
