Garmin ?

I have a T20 collar that will not track or get gps signal now. Worked fine when I bought it new the first 2 times out. It’s maybe 4 months old. Now it won’t track. Just shows a ? Mark on handheld. I’ve updated it on my computer and did the reset on collar strap. Anyone know anything else I can try?

Tried that a few times. It adds to handheld but won’t get a signal to track. I will prob just send into garmin for a replacement.

if you have another collar you can try swapping the GPS antenna flex band and see if the problem follows. I believe that part is pretty cheap and easily replaceable on the new alpha collars, instead of replacing the whole collar. But if it's under warranty then by all means send it in.

if the vhf functions are working correctly, then I'd put money on the gps antenna being the problem. the fact it's connected to the handheld tells me vhf is working, and you can confirm by changing the update rate and seeing if it changes on your handheld. That is a two way communication signal which would verify the collar is communicating just fine with the handheld.

Usually when the gps antenna fails, it's the wire that is sheathed under the flex band that breaks inside the band and is difficult to see. Otherwise it's the gps chip inside the antenna box, I've had this fail when submerged in water on a river crossing. A new GPS antenna flex band replaces it all, and Garmin makes a heavy duty version of this flex band if you want something more durable, although it's pretty expensive.
