Classifieds

Does anyone else think it would be nice to have a biggame classifieds section, since we cannot post them here.

YES

I agree also. Big game dogs can be of any Breed. Big Game hunters want to know if the dog is Big Game bred or if any of the pups are Big Game producers. The low numbers of Big Game pups/or stud dogs will be lost in the sea of Coondog only bred dogs. We need a Place to look Big Game only Classifieds.

moved postings

It seems that there are always alot of ads on here for dogs and pups. There are still quiet a few that have not been moved right now. Rules state that discussions about Big Game Hunting and items that pertain to that. Pups and Dogs do pertain to that. You can post on Coonhounds section and within a few hours the post will be three pages deep.

If the vast majority thinks we need a big game forum, I'm not opposed. I wasn't opposed to the occasional "broke bear dog" "looking for a cat dog" post. But a high percentage of those posts were marginal wouldn't you say? Some belong on their respective breed boards and some in other.

Are you sure we could keep a big game classifieds going with posts that are legit?

Marginal ??

What makes a post marginal? Who would decide if a post was "legit"? If hounds are used for Big Game and Coon how would you decide where to post the ads?

No I don't

No matter how you cut it, Someone will have to keep a eye on what is being posted. I do think that Big Game hunters
want a place to look for Big Game dogs. Many Big Game hunters are not Breed specific, Posting in Breed sections will make the locating of Big Game bred dogs more difficult.
It would seem easier to have someone check the Board several times a day than to have the Big Game hunter wanting to buy UKC dogs. Look 4 pages deep on every breed page looking for a Big Game bred pup or Stud dog.

That was kind of my way of thinking. If the big game hunter wants to look for a big game hound he won't have to scroll through all the coon hounds in every breed. If you want to sell a hound that runs coon and big game just post him in both. Just my thoughts.

I agree it would be very helpful to have a seperate section that pertains just to big game hounds.

a big game classified section would be awesome.Sorry guys I posted a classified on here just got caught up in the moment. It kinda shows though that a seperate section will work cause I had my pups on the walker classifieds and didn't get any response put them on here and sold out in ten days and booked a few more.Man that ruler to the back of the hand hurts LOL.

A big game classified would be a great thing for us to have

Posted by Brian Chorney on 07-18-2007 03:34 AM:

I thought thats what we have going right now. If we decide that the dogs we use are big game dogs then I'm pretty sure that is what they are. What keeps this forum going in the off seasons is the talk of pups and dogs. I think if it starts to get split up it is a pain "surfing" around looking for adds/ pups and or dogs related to big game hunting. If no one likes the post it just goes away down the board.
The only thing I see that happens is this is a U.K.C. purebred dog site. On occasion crossbred dogs show up.
This is just my opinion and that is why this site is such a cool site, because you can read the opinions of folks right across North America.
Brian

I would say yes , but who would decide what breed would be accepted as a "Big Game Dog". More than half my posts on here get deleted anyway, will that be the same way the ads will be handled?

I dont believe there should be only specific breeds recognized as big game hounds.(obviously within reason, no ankle biters)There are many guys that have mixed hounds that are better big game hounds than many so called "pure breed" hound. I realize that this is a ukc site and they strive for pure breeding, but in the big game world many times its to a persons advantage to cross breed.

Posted by Cat and bear on 07-18-2007 01:05 PM:

Lets use full cry for example, big game hounds have twice the adds of the specific breed. Who cares what the breed is, if it puts a bear in a tree. If you want the specific breed, its already set up, in UKC. I think big game hounds is an excellent idea.

It really doesn't matter to me. This forum is for your use and enjoyment so you just let us know what you want. Sam said he has the time to monitor as many forums as you need! lol

LOL gee thanks "Buddy"

I say just make a big game classified,no breed seperation. But we do need some guide lines, such as do want for example airedales pits, jags ect on it. As far as cross breeds they are fine in my opinion, have had some and will more than likely have em again. As I said above the dog boxes trackers ect have no need to be on it with the "other "board here. One other thing if we do get it I think it needs listed above or below the forum board.
