If there's already a problem, 16 oz witch hazel solution + 1/4 cup boric acid powder + 16 drops gentian violet. All available at old-fashioned pharmacy for humans. Squirt in 2x a day for a week, once a day for another week. They will shake out any excess and it stains, so do it outdoors while wearing old clothes!
For ongoing maintenance, just wipe out with witch hazel on a cotton pad as frequently as needed. Could be daily or monthly or just after getting wet.
