I'd say try to get with an older hunter that has a finished dog. Follow what the man says, let your dog follow his dog.

4 to 8 months old is when I like like to start mine and I just take them huntin put them down on every track and if they dont go put them back up and wait till they cross a road and do the same thing and i walk em in to the bay and trees, sooner or later u will look around to load him up and he will be goin. That's how I start mine and many others

Do the same with mine only I socialize them with the older dogs about every day in the backyard, then start roading them with the big dogs when they are about four months. I have two pups that will be four months old any day, and I started roading them a couple weeks ago. They are a long ways from being able to keep up with the big dogs on a jumped bear, which will come along at about six months, that is if they don't stop to scratch their butts or anything...........
