40s always got a bad rap. people said they weren't as good as the 30s but 40s are all i'm still using and I can tell you from experience they get a little better range than the 30s.
The 50s haven't been out for very long everybody bragged them up when they came out but now i'm starting to hear a lot of people complaining about loosing communication with them.
sometimes I truthfully think the problem is with the user more than the collar.LOL Basically the 40s are supposed to be the worst of the lot and I can honestly say i don't have a problem with them.
thanks buddy.im just getting back into it so im gonna have to buy a system.ive just heard hear say about what to get.

I've got both the 30's and the 50's and both are great,,,50 get twice the range,,I have no complaints on either of them,,love them both,,I have steered away from the 40's because of the problems they have had,,I have never used them, but have had buddies that have, and most have had a lot of problems with the 40's,,the bad news is they quit making the 50's only way to get one is buy used or if you get lucky and find a retailer that still has afew left on the shelf,,but they are getting hard to find,,,but the 50 would be my choice,,but only because of the range,,and also you can lock it using a pin number so no one else can use it if stolen or lost,,and it also has rescue mode on it that can be set,,when you only have a quarter battery power left it goes into rescue mode,,transmitting signal only every 2 minutes instead of every 5 seconds,,,giving you much longer time to find your hound,,with regular time and rescue mode time I believe total battery time is 54 or 56 hours

The 40s ain't necessarily "bad", but the 30s and 50s are just better. The 40s lose communication quicker and they don't pick up as fast.
