Just one dog

Wondering how many coon hunters keep only one dog at a time? I had made up my mind (for about the 3rd time) to keep only one dog but now I'm looking for a young dog. Maybe I can keep myself from buying one.

I only keep one dog. With my work schedule, and life I can honestly only do one dog justice. I try to hunt 2-3 nights a week and only can get out for a few hours per night. I would rather have one good dog that gets all my attention in the woods and out of it.

If I had two I personally don’t think I could give them the time in the woods they deserve or proper training trying to focus on two. I am definitely tempted at times to get a second but I talk myself off that ledge.

Now thats funny—

The way they have got these “wonderful” coon dogs bred today—unless you got young legs and like to walk, you can only hunt one.

Thankful for Garman. I'm hunting an 8 yr old female and a 15 month old pup that are tone broke. They come out of the woods and walk with me to the truck and get in the box. All you gotta do is tone break them. I'm 70 years old.

I'm 75 and I seldom use a lead coming out of the woods. It's a game changer for us older guys. Hard enough to climb out of these hollers without trying to hold on to a couple of dogs. By the way I did buy a young dog and I'm liking him. He's really easy to handle.

Well if you do get the half that doesn’t eat. Be the cheapest to keep and no cleanup required!!🙃😉
