Largest cast

What is the largest number hounds you have ever seen cast at one time?
This may sound like a Texas Tale, but in 1974 while attending the South Texas Wolf Hunters Meet at Gillette, TX, I witnessed the casting of 264 hounds at one time. This is not a record by any means, as the popularity of hunting coyotes with hounds was much stronger in the 30's, 40's and 50's.
My Great Grandfather, Erskin Outlaw was one of the founders of the South Texas Wolf Hunters Assoc. back in the 1920's. They called it the "Wolf" hunters assoc. but they were genuinely hunting coyotes. There was no TV in those days and ranchers would gather from miles around to cast their hounds and sit around a campfire. It was not only a means of controlling the coyote but a social event as well.
My Grandfather, Julian Roberson bred and hunted the most famous of all South Texas coyote hounds, a Walker by the name of Tulsa. Not only was he a great hound, winning the meet at least once, he was considered to have the greatest voice of any hound. The recording of him running a coyote at Cotulla, TX was the sound for the hound in the Walt Disney movie, VOICE OF BUGLE ANN. Tulsa was bred to many females but was never able to pass this great quality to his offspring.
The first liar never has a chance!

I do believe 15 dogs is the most I've hunted with. Or seen run and make the tree. It was hectic. We were hunting with two others. We each had 4 turned in, when we got there 3 of someone else's dog had found thier way there. So that made 15. It was interesting enough to walk them all out, cause after we tied em, the bear bailed. So they were worked up!

Not sure how many they hunted, but when I was a kid there was a fox hunt in and around Harden MO. We would find dogs for weeks after that event.

Personaly my favorite # to cast is 1.
