Got a 4 going on 5 year old female that’s never been in heat.She is a coon treeing machine.My ? Is what can I do to this female that might make her come in heat.Sure would like to have a puppy out of her. Tommy

Hey Tommy
You might need to take her to a reproductive specialist. Most GP vets don’t get into or even encourage breeding dogs today. I’d start with some simple bloodwork that includes a comprehensive thyroid panel. I’d say nutritional and thyroid issues account for a majority of fertility issues in hounds.

bingo could be thyroid , thick disease could just be dog food , not sur whatyou are feeding but have been a lot that change food and here comes the heat cycle

For starters I'd try de-worming with a good de-wormer such as Ivermectin and Safeguard combo. A well balanced high quality diet like Eukanuba Performance Diet has helped some females regain normal heat cycles. There is another thread addressing this issue on this forum and some have had great results with Sportmix dog foods getting their females to cycle and gain fertility again. I do think there is something with Grain Free Diets interfering with hormonal cycles in females. In addition to what I mentioned above about the thyroid testing, I'd also do a 4DX test on this female. They are inexpensive and a good way of ruling out heartworm disease and tick borne illness that can interfere with the heat cycle. If money is an issue, then the wormer and diet is a good start.
