Information on Wisconsin Bear Training

I was thinking of going up this summer. What are the ups and downs of this??? Also does anyone know of a good guide service up there?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Junior Watson

It is over one hundred dollars for a training permit for nonresidents. Your dogs might be killed by wolves. You can check on the WI. DNR site for updated wolf attacks. Packs that attack make a habit of it so you want to avoid these areas. Be sure to check previous years because the attacks haven't started yet for 2007.

Weekends are crowded but on weekdays you have thousands of acres to yourself. Plan your traveling on the weekends.

Fisher Creek Outfitters used to guide trainers. I am not recomending him because I don't know how he is. I have met Dave and he is freindly.

I have not been out yet and I have not seen many hunters. I think this weekend will be the big start for most.

There is not much food in the woods and the bears are really moving. I have bears in my yard trying to break into my bait supply almost every night. I have to go outside and chase them away so the dogs will quit barking. We need rain!

I've been doing fairly decent so far this season. We put 5 up opening day and 2 today. They aren't any thing huge with the largest being about 200#, but it's still bear in the tree. We're off to a good start!
