I doubt a dog could tree a bear in those Steep, Big Hill's. You guy's in Wv hunt without being hard headed.<LOL> I get the feeling you have just never had one more hard than you are<lol>. I never bear hunted in Wv but I have coonhunted there and it was Tough and so were the Guy's who hunted there every night.

English is the only breed I will feed. I have seen some nice dogs in all the breeds, but when I see one that doesnt have English papers I walk away thinking too bad it didnt. I have no plans on ever hunting anything else.

As for being hard headed, I have seen them all across the board. I have one here who had a reputation for being the hardest headed dog that ever lived. When I take him to an event now, I let him out of the box without a leash and he fallows me around like a collie. Cut him at night and he will punch a hole in the dark and has no return address. He minds better than my kids now.

No Surprise Here!!!

I hunt English and have 35 years.
But I really think it's more about the bloodline of hounds than it is about the breed of a hound. With proper breeding and enough time people in most breeds have come up with good hounds. I think there are far to few good bloodlines. But that falls back on the people breeding them.
I think that dog's who are bred to fit the score card are often much the same type of hound regardless of breed. This has been a Good and Bad thing. The Good is that it has allowed breeders to have a clear goal to shoot for, the Bad thing is that in many case's it has bred some of the qualities that Coonhunter's/Big game hunter's need in a hound out of the hounds they breed.
Are the Light Foot Hounds Hard Headed. YES, Most of the time I Love that about them. I feel that's why it dosen't get to Hot or Cold, to Dry or Wet. I think that's why they have and are working Coast to Coast, Canada to Texas. But when it's late and I wish they would give up on that bad track and come in I am the first to say ____________ Light Foot dog's. When my Hawk dog was killed by a Bear that had already kicked his Azz<Hawk was alone> I was saying _________ hard headed Light Foot dog. Are my dog's hard headed Yes, Do I want them any other way NO !!!!!!<at least most of the time LOL>

Your right Jess. I have seen some from all the breeds who when they got out of your light, you couldnt tell a black and tan from a walker. Same style, same mouth, same dog, just a different color.

Loose came with that name. It started when there wasnt enough females in his litter to go around, and the guy who got him wanted one. Since he lost out on getting a female, he named the male Looser.

He was a hard hunting dog from the start. Still is today. If hes gone 20 or 30 minutes and you havent heard a bark, you better get out the tracker. So Looser kind of stuck because he was lost half the time.

He was a GRCH at 10 months, and a NTCHGRCH at just over 2.

In a cast, when I loose I just say see there named that sucker right. LOL. When I win, I rub it in that they got beat by a Looser.

You think his name starts up conversations in a hunt, I have a sister to him named WY.

Whats your dogs name?

WY
..........just wondered.

No, her "name" is WY
