Did any of you know BILL Nails...??

I hunted with an old Indian by this name as a kid...He has been dead for a few years and I wondered if anyone in the big game would still remember him??? If you never knew him you missed out on knowing a true hunter. Shortly before he died, well into his eighties, he and I spent the night in the High Sierras on the ground in some cold cold weather...He was a tuff old hunter. Probly killed more big game than about anyone in the lower 48.

Where did you know him from? I believe you might be talking about a guy that lived right here. That my family all knew (I actually think he was married into my boyfriends family somewhere) If this si the same guy. Sounds like it though. Yes, he died a few years back, I was younger.

I grew up under that hard old SOB... He was like an uncle to me....I first came to know him there in Sac. But, then he moved for awhile back to Mo. with me and my family....I could tell you stories you would not believe....I am sure it was the same guy...how well did you know him??

Well, I couldn't have been no older than about 12 the last time I saw him. I know he was close with the Ross family, did a lot of dogs with them. Also with my boyfriends family, Bill Vance and Elmo Songer.

I think we got a pup from him a long while back. He had some stuff related to what my stepdad was running at the time. Out of Old Duffus or Ford. I believe he had a litter off Ford, and we got a pup off that, but we sold him as a young pup to Bill Vance.

I hunted with him alot as a kid and when he got older I went to sac. to see him....I will always remember him. As crazy as he was he sure knew what a good hound was....It is nice to talk to someone who still remembers him...I think my dad knows the Ross family, some of the others you mention...He hunted and lived in Sac. for years Tom Phelan is his name...Do you still hunt regularly???
