Lightfoot pups shine north of the border
Several of us attended the annual Alberta Tree Hound Assoc. field trial last weekend. I thought I would post some of the results so fellow Lightfoot owners could be proud of how their dogs did, and maybe brag just a little for the heck of it. I would also like to congradulate the new owner of Lightfoot Robin, Brent Nordholt of Alberta. Brent drove clear to Oregon to buy Robin, and I think it's safe to say it was worth the trip.
All dogs listed are Lightfoot bred

congratulations-
how do you run a rigging contest ---- ?
first ive heard of one -
You all have good reason to be proud of your hounds. As close as I can figure the dogs were out of seven differernt parents. Nice to know that you do not have to count on only 1 dog to reproduce your next generation of good hounds. I think this is a case of a overall breeding program paying off.
P.S. Dustin/Brain I don't think the Gambler or Throttle are going to make Big Game dog's I will pay the air fare and you both can just send them to me !!!!!!!!!! LOL<I knew I should have picked a male from that litter>

This is just plain COOL! Love the picture too but just to see a whole bunch of Lightfoot dawgs all doing this together is really neat.
Congrats to all of you, good luck in the future!

Seems like I heard a young walker dog nearly doubled the next closest hound for high point dog. Can you verify this and what is this dogs name?

Well I'll give it a try! For the rig contest you need about 500yds of trail/road. The judges are half way down the trail and they drag a bear hide across the trail and back to where they are in the blind. The truck drives along as if rigging for bears. The judges score the dog for the quality and accuracy of the strike. They also have to make sure the dog is not just babbling. The truck turns around and drives back through to the staging area. The dog may strike again on the track, adding to the score. It takes quite awhile to run if you have a lot of dogs entered.
Thats the rigging contest in a nut shell.

Way to go guys. I am glad to see that the pups are working out as normal light foot pups do. Clyde is still getting better every time I take him.

What can you tell me about a dog named Riggs at this same feild trail? A Walker dog.I heard this dog won the whole ball of wax? Is his owner on here or do you know how to get ahold of him?

Riggs - owned by Phil Soucy of Libby Montana
Phil always has his dogs in top physical condition. He won last year also with one of his Lightfoot dogs. But this year Riggs, (the walker dog) was just to fast for the rest of the competitors.
I didn't realize it was going to bother anyone by not mentioning this. If I offended anyone I appologize. I originally posted about the Lightfoot dogs that won, so the people who have them, or are interested in reading about them, could see how the dogs did. Thats why I titled the thread "Lightfoot pups shine north of the border". I know it's just a field trial, and doesn't mean a lot as far as the dogs ability to tree game, but it's fun to get together with a bunch of fellow houndsmen and run the dogs.
Paco, I'll pm you Phil's phone number.

The reason I hunt this bloodlines is a quote an old friend gave me,"Your either making dust or your eating it."
Paco,
I asked Phil what the dog was out of at the field trial, and it seems like he told me he had some Sackett JR in him, and I'm not sure what else.
Travis,
Phillip Sweet lives about two miles down the road from me. I don't know if they still have any hounds. They sold their outfitting area two or three years ago.
