Should They ???

I would like to do a Poll on a subject that either Has or Will affect your Hunting !!!!!!!

Do you think that any Good has come from the introduction of new Species into your Hunting Area.



Example. Wolf into Wi, Mi.
Fisher into Wi,



You know what has been introduced into you area. Do you feel this has had a

2. Negitive impact.

im not sure anything is new-

30 years ago was no turkeys- no coyote no fisher- no moose-

i should say --- almost none -

would make the paper if u saw one lol

everyday thing now

i like the moose-

they can really browse an area down and make good trails to walk

if i owned a lot of woodland -- i might hate them -lol


they make it so u can cross those clearcuts --lol

moose is good food if u draw a tag or your buddy does lol

-- the fisher are hard on our small game i think they have a huge negative impact on bobcat -- and occasionally they kill a porky but dont let anybody tell you they will clean them out

they are no real problem when fur prices are high-
way too many when it isnt

same with coyotes-


they are hard on deer --and small game - and foxes and bobcat

bobcat could kill a deer and feed on it a month in the winter-he could defend it from fox - no chance against the coyote and fisher


now its totally gone in days


turkeys are ok-

they help feed the bobcat

have a few lynx around --still pretty rare


not enuff wolf or lion here yet to amount to anything



i say bring on the lions and send the wolves to nyc or any big city - lol


and open a hound season on the fisher-- then i will start liking them better ---lol

Well West Va. Reintroduced the Fisher and now we have them !! when squrriels have young a Fisher will just lay in the nest and eat them as they wont. Very Neg. Impact For Sure .. Heck the last sighting of a Fisher in West Va. before the reintroduced them was well over 130 years ago around the time the last Elk was seen.

When I first read the title to the post I thought great what spices are they re introducing....lol. I think that anytime man tries to play God it can only be a bad thing. There are many examples but I will not list them here. Wolves for example were extirpated for a reason.... by men that knew them much better then the granola bar eating birkenstock wearing idiots that wanted them brought back. Take care. Mason

We lost two hounds to wolves this weekend. Wolves are not an introduction. They were always here, but I think the introduction of moron biologist to decide the management plan has had a huge negative impact on hound hunting in WI. I wish I could get a permit to cull some of those self centered jerks.

There's always been fisher here since as long as I can remember. I dont mind them but they will take a good toll on small game..young kitten coon, and game birds.

Coyotes have always been around, but not nearly the amount we have today. I think they got some help, 12 years ago or so they suddenly got bigger, and now hunt in packs. When I was a kid the rare coyote was 25 lbs. and solitary....now 40lb + coyotes are very common,...and there's usually 4 or 5 together. F&G did some breeding and stocking I'd say, although there's an open season 365 days a year and always has been.

I dread the day they decide to stock wolves. In the entire US, there simply is not enough land or use for wolves. We as humans have altered this country beyond the ability to support wolves, and there's no turning back. In every area they've turned into "fringe" animals..who live just outside human populations, preying on livestock and pets. They are far from the independent and majestic creature the anti's want you to think they are. I honestly believe I've seen and heard wolves here in NH...but I dont blame anyone for not believing me. Some day they'll make the paper like the moose did back in 1986.

Growing up you didnt hear nothing about coyotes. My uncle and his buddies were fox hunters. Theyd mention "brush wolves", just like alot of old timers did. Not many but they were here a long time. Prolly more red wolf than coyote Id figure but Im no expert.
They call em coyotes here now in the north east, but how many coyotes get 60+ pounds? or are colored black, blonde, red etc? hunt in packs?
Id really like to know if they migrated here or were stocked or both.. They claim midwestern coyotes migrated over the great lakes into canada then NY etc. Enroute here they picked up algonquin red wolf blood and to a lesser extent other wolf blood according to recent dna studies.

As for the poll, well some were negative and some positive, depends how you look at it.
Theyre is a fight going on now to reintroduce wolves in NY VT and ME, now that would be a mess.. who knows they could be doing limited experimenting right now. I say scratch the wolves, bring in the lions lol.
