fox pens???

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but i had asked the ? on a couple other boards. Has anybody ever run there dogs in a fox pen? I have bear/coon hounds and I want to try running them in one of those pens but I don't know anything about them or how they work. I also have been trying to find one closer than 3 to 4 hours from my house to go run at but can't find any info on those either. Any info would be appreciated.

Fox pens are typically run for deer dogs, or inside hounds (fox hounds). Running a coon/bear dog in fox pens is only asking for trouble (running trash).

Are you saying you want to switch your dogs over to fox and coyote? If your intention is to give your coon/bear dogs pen time for getting them in shape and track running, as stated above, a fox pen is the wrong place for that. With that said, if you do indeed want to run fox and yotes, I'm sure someone can PM you locations of pens if you state specifically where you are located. It is never a good idea to list locations of running pens on public sites like this....that info is better kept close to pocket.

Another thing, they don't want any kill dogs in there pens.

There are bunkers in the pens to allow the game to get out of the way if it gets worn down. In Virginia I don't think one can run year round like they can in Carolina. That is why deer hunters often run in pens. I try not to run my deer hounds in a pen often as it can create bad habits.
