North Carolina Bear Hunting

I'm thinking of moving to NC in the next few years and don't want to stop bear hunting. Is there any decent bear hunting around Brunswick County, NC or where would I have to go to be able to find some bears.

There is good bear hunting along the coast of NC, especially the northern part of the coast. Not sure about Brunswick.

Dmeeks.......hunting in Brunswick county for me was always hit and miss now I was just a guest so I wasn't local and maybe didn't have the best location or the best hounds. The season you have there is three weeks starting around the first part of December. Obvisouly the first week is the best. All the hunting I did down there was done in the southern part of the green swamp on the Jones hunting club. Now like I say I wasn't local and I'm not rich so were I hunting the baiting was no were as good as it should have been. I hunted down there three years. The first year I didn't get any bait down there prior to the hunt. I hunted all week and harvested one bear. The secound year I baited a little better I was able to hunt three days I found one bear I could start and a club member harvested it. The next year some boys hunted the club baited it real good with peanuts and sweet potatoes. As far as I no they never killed a bear. The next year I hunted it the property was baited right tge club had food plotts everywere. I was only able to hunt one morning but we harvested a bear. I persobaly never got on no big bear but I have seen two 500 pounders shot treed down there. So they have them I just never got lucky. I feel like one day as the population gets greater that will be a good place to hunt. If you pay attention A lot of the ncbha board memebers hunt down there. I think if you want to get into the bigger populations you have to go farther north but good luck. Hunting lands are about wraped up.

I hope this helps.

He is correct.Just about anywhere along the coast is good.At least, that's what I hear.I live just across the state line in Virginia Beach.Even here, for as populated it is,there is a good bear population.Matter of fact, there was a cub killed sometime last night just up the road from me.I got friends in N.C. in and around Elizabeth City,Hertford & Edenton areaswho have buddy's that bear hunt. And with very high success rates. It's mostly all swamp they hunt in,but ya play the hand that is dealt to ya.
