Just wondering how that line of dogs is if they are reproducing. . Sorry for being so foolish but what did sarge acomplish like i said i am usually a walker man and don't know much of the pkott breed

Not foolish at all my friend, asking is how you learn. The Sarge line of dogs stems from the original Sarge dog that was out of Joe Boy and Queen. Sarge produced Sarge 2 and several other winning dogs. Sarge 2 was a fantastic winning plott that won a good bit of money in PKC and was killed very young by a car. From the limited breeding he had (I think 46 pups) came Sarge 3 who was by all accounts an average kind of dog, but an excellent reproducer. He produced several top hounds including Buckeye Bud who won the PKC world in 99. Bud also produced some excellent hounds.

What sarge dog are you seeing in your pedigree? Sarge dogs are known to be very quick, competitive hounds. They tend to be accurate and independent. Many don't have great mouths and can be a little loose with it on the track. Of course there are exceptions to anything. All in all I really love Sarge dogs and its what I hunt.

The original Buckeye Sarge died in the early 90's I believe.

The Buckeye Sarge dog you are seeing is, more than likely PR Buckey Sarge II. He is out of GRNITECH PR Sybert & Otto's Sarge (the original Sarge dog). Sybert & Otto's Sarge is a full brother (from a younger litter) to WLDNITECH GRNITECH PR Kansas Sizzlin Heat, the only Plott to win the UKC World Hunt. Though he didn't win the World hunt, Sarge did win several big hunts and was a better reproducer than his world-champion brother.

Sarge II won the PKC Futurity as a young dog and got killed very young. He was a grandpup on both sides of GRNITECH PR Shortridge's Queen who got in the finals of the UKC World several times. Sarge II would show Brandenburger's Pioneer Drum (who won the first Autumn Oaks) several times (Queen goes back to him twice, as does Timberline Tack who is Sarge II's maternal grandsire).

Sarge III kind of has mixed feelings in Plott circles. I never hunted with the dog but there is no doubt he reproduced very well (including PR R&R's Buckeye Bud who won the 99 PKC World as Ron mentioned).

Good luck with your female. Maybe, like Ron said, you can post her pedigree and you can get more info. Likely there are people on this board who know the dogs in your females pedigree.
