-- What can I do about overheating at the tree? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928375238)

I try to keep my dogs thinned right down in the summer time and also I've found that the type if dog food I feed makes a pretty big difference. And I never hunt a dog after it's been fed. I don't like to do much in the heat with a full belly and neither do the dogs.

Either a dog has it in them or they don't, just what I've observed
Ralph, if a dog is over weight it can cause some of it also the feed your feeding might be the issue. I've heard of a few folks who keep there leopards brushed alot during the summer months do to the double coat and it seems to work.

All good answers. As for brushing a dog ,this really helps mine. I use whats called a furminator on mine and brush them at least three times a week. This tool really works wonders on their hair. I feed jake a lot less too. He may slow down a little at the tree in the summer , but still trees real good. Good luck with your dog.

yep if your in the south you need to break out the curry comb and slick them up , it helps a lot . and protein = heat I switch to a lower protein feed in the warm months .

It can be in some cases. In others the slick coats are better. You just couldn't help yourself could you. lol
