We've lost a good Leopard Man!
A couple weeks ago Tommy Byrd past away from cancer.Tommy was a very close friend to me and meant a lot to me and I'm really going to miss my ole buddy. The very first time I ever meet Tommy was at the Blueridge hunt and he made me feel like family first time I ever meet him.Him and Rex Bowers came here and hunted with my dad before I was even born and dad went down there a lot to and hunted with him and Oneil Bennett.I talked to Tommy pretty much every day on the phone for years up until he started gettin sick.He would call me during his coon hunts so I could hear his dogs treeing. He was a character the kind of person that's like the life of the party always making you laugh.Tommy had hunted Leopards since the 60's and told me a lot of stories about hunts with Oneil and McDuffie and breedings that were made.Tommy was a very good man and I'm going to miss him!

Sorry to hear, Tommy could put a smile on anyones face, a great storyteller and a wealth of leopard knowledge.

I only met Tommy Byrd a couple of times but he was absolutely unforgettable. What a great character. I only got to hear him go off on a story one time, it was at one of the Wld. Hunts at Tilden. He had the whole place falling out of their seats with laughter. God bless his soul.

Tommy was certainly one of a kind. I never will forget stopping by his house on the way to the beach to hunt my first night of vacation. He knew this "pretty good" spot. He drug me out into the thickest mess I have ever been in in my life....all I could think about was "I could be on the beach smoking a cigar...I have lost my mind!" Tommy was a great guy and he will be missed for sure.
Rip Tom
he allways had a good story to tell.
