I would think World Champions would be automatic.I too would like to see a membership vote on the others.
All World Champions are Automatic. They went in this year. There is a list of them in this years yearbook.
Then it will go by if a dog meets the criteria that was put together for the Hall Of Fame committee. All dogs that meet the criteria will then go into the HOF. Look at Automatic Inductions into the HOF below.
Here is the whole HOF INFO for your reading pleasure.
American Black & Tan Coonhound Association Hall of Fame selection criteria and how it works.
General:
1. Any person who wishes to nominate a dog to the American Black & Tan Coonhound Association Hall of Fame (HOF) must be a paid or lifetime member of the American Black & Tan Coonhound Association at the time of nomination.
2. The Registered Owner of the dog being nominated must be known at the time of nomination. The Registered Owner of dog, at the time of the dog’s death, will receive the commemorative HOF plaque and will have their name listed in the HOF with the dog.
3. Adds will be ran in breed album and selected issues of bloodlines to announce the accepting of nominations for the (HOF). A deadline will be set to allow enough time for the nominated dogs to be submitted on a ballot with the newsletter to the general membership for voting. Ballots will be collected, and then counted and certified by the board of directors. Results will be announced and commemorative plaques presented at B&T days.
4. Dog must be registered as an American Black & Tan Coonhound by United Kennel Club, Inc. Dogs must be deceased for a period of three (3) years to be eligible for nomination into the HOF on the general membership ballot.
5. Dogs being voted on will be separated by sex on the General Membership Ballot. Each member can vote on one (1) male and one (1) female each year to be elected into the HOF, and also (1) male and (1) female show dog each year. Exception: first year voting; see information below.
6. The Board of Directors (BOD) of the American Black & Tan Coonhound Association can collectively nominate one (1) male and one (1) female per calendar year to be on the General Membership HOF Ballot.
7. The BOD will take all the nominations and narrow the list to five (5) males and five (5) females to be voted on by the General Membership. Also (5) males and (5) females for show dogs. The list will be scaled back to (5) by number of years deceased or by the most nomination votes.
8. Each dog that finishes second in HOF voting in their respective category (male or female) will automatically be on the ballot the following year with no further nomination process.
Automatic Inductions into the HOF:
1. Dogs will be automatically inducted into the HOF in the time frame stipulated if they meet the following criteria:
a. Overall UKC World Coonhound Championship Winner; immediately following death
b. Overall National Grand Nite Champion of Autumn Oaks as awarded by UKC; immediately following death
c. National Grand Nite Champion of Breed at Autumn Oaks as awarded by UKC; inducted immediately following death if multiple-year winner.
d. Overall Purina UKC Nite Hunt Coonhound of the Year; inducted immediately following death.
e. Overall UKC/Black Gold Triple Crown Champion; inducted immediately following death.
f. UKC B&T Performance Sire of the Year as awarded by UKC; inducted immediately following death if multiple year-winner, or three(3) year after death if won once.
g. If a dog is in the top five of the Historical Reproducer’s List as compiled by UKC; inducted three (3) years after death.
h. If a dog meets any of two (2) of the following criteria, they will be inducted immediately following death:
i. National Grand Nite Champion of Breed at Autumn Oaks
ii. King or Queen of Black & Tan Days
iii. Overall Grand American Nite Hunt Champion
iv. Overall UKC Winter Classic Nite Hunt Champion

2. Dogs meeting automatic induction criteria will be inducted into the HOF in the calendar year of their eligibility with no nomination or ballot procedures.
Automatic Inductions for Show Dogs
1. Dogs will automatically be inducted into the (HOF) in the time frame stipulated if they meet the following criteria:
a. Overall UKC World Coonhound Bench Show Champion, immediately following death
b. Overall UKC Winter Classic Bench Show Champion, three (3) year after death.

e. Overall Grand American Bench Show Champion, after UKC sanctioning began. Three (3) year after death.
f. King or Queen of B&T days, three (3) year after death.
Initial Induction Procedure:
In order to bring as many deserving dogs from the past into the HOF, these procedures will be followed:
1. The first year HOF will include World Champions only.
2. The second year, take ten (10) dogs that meet the Automatic Induction requirements from the year 1960-present will be brought into the HOF. Also, ten (10) dogs that may or may not meet automatic criteria, from any year, to be considered as “Foundation Stock” will be brought into the HOF.
3. These dogs will be above and beyond the four dogs the General Membership will vote in.
4. This procedure will be followed until the BOD feels the HOF is up to date. At that point the general nomination/voting procedures will be followed, as well as the automatic criteria listed.
There is also a committee in place that is currently working on the bench show criteria. They will continue through the following year to look at and update the criteria as needed to insure it is complete and adequate.
