I got out the last couple nights!

Well it looks like I'll be heading back up to MI for a week for training so I'm taking the boys for 4 nights of hunting. So I figure I better get them back out and get some rust off. I had Cajun and Ice out and they sure get me excited watching them work together and I can't help but call some folks when they get treed and let other folks hear what the boys sound like!!! I made 3 different trees and looked at two coon in one tree a Den and a real big grown up tree so overall there looking good!

The Boys doing their thing!

Hearing Loss

Guess I will be talking to an attorney going to have to sue ole John. He caused me to suffer hearing loss the other night! What do u-all think about a guy calling you with stinking hounds treeing so loud they hurt your ears. Will say they sounded good and man they are loud. I can't wait to see them in action.

Well here's a update from the hunt last night. The score after the dust settled is the Okla Dogs are up! But tonight we're heading over to Zach's Home grounds to see with the home field advantage if Zach can get the score at least tied. In fact tonight were bringing in a dog from Ohio that's out of Zach's dog to help out! And Rumor has it ole Slick and Grinnin was caught trying to catch another slick! But John told him that doesn't count LOL!

Thanks Mrs Johnson!

It's always nice to see a person who tells it like it is LOL!!!
But I must say you were very polite to your buddy cause the way I saw it I hauled two dogs all the way from Oklahoma. Then gave them a hour or so to get ready to take on two rested up dogs that Zach brought over. And on the 1st drop my two dogs took off and left ole Jug in the dust. In fact Jug had to get out of the dirt so it would quit hitting him in the face so he pulls off to the left and sets down and trees or he was crying and wanted Zach to come get him cause he couldn't see to get back to the truck! And besides he was upset cause there was two dogs down from him treed with the coon and they were hurting his ears! On the second drop I left one of the Oklahoma dogs in the box so Jug wouldn't have so much dirt hitting him in the face. After the 3 dogs got in the woods and struck I got the other Oklahoma dog out and sent him in behind them and while they was running that track the Oklahoma dog struck and got treed behind them and had another coon. HMMMMM well after a mile or so the Michigan dog got treed and had a coon!!!!!! So its 2 to 1 and after tonight we will see if Zach's dogs and the Ohio dog can catch up!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I must say at Least Zach and I got to drink our Soda's and eat our Snickers bars. But Zach tonight please leave the slick's alone at least if my Dogs are close lol

PA Group

Maybe we could get ole Zack and his hounds signed up for a PA group! Possums Anonymous Group for those that don't know. Maybe some sinus pills would help with their dust allergies too.

Well I'm finally getting a chance to get on here and throw in my side of the story for what it's worth and first off I gotta say that The Lord says in the good book that we're supposed to be truthfull so I'm gonna have to say it how it was. The Okie dogs looked good! After being in Oklahoma last year and seeing how small their coons were I wasn't sure that they could handle Mi's little ring tailed bears but they got it done! And truth be told I believe the Okie dogs finished up the weekend a little higher on the scoreboard than my own but that's ok because johns my buddy and I would hate for him to come upto visit me and get a butt whoopin he'd feel all the way back home! As far as my own dogs I've always thought that if you walk a big enough you don't have to talk any talk, but for those of you that can't see their walk I'll talk a little talk for ya! Yeah it's true my poor old man got left in the dust a time or two but he likes to work smarter rather than harder and it payed off for him a time or two when he was alone with meat! At one point though I was kinda worried about johns dogs passing out from trying to tree with my lil crazy daisy female. Sure they're loud but it took the both of them to keep up with her barks per minute. After the two nights of hunting and 16 trees (we had a lot of splits) old man jug only backed another dog twice and looked ok by himself so I believe I'll keep him for awhile yet! Oh and btw I was trying to tree the possum myself but I think we will all agree that there are a whole lot worse off game for a man to get after than I little ol slick tail . Oh and bob if you ain't gonna come upto Mi yourself you just stay outa this.

Whew

Dog gone Zack I didn't mean to get you all fired up. You supposed to mouth back at me not say things that makes me feel bad. You could just send that old slow dog down to me then I couldn't give you a hard time. On second though I would still give you a hard time but I would be bragging about my Jug dog while I was razzing you.

Well I wanted to take a day to think about the hunts on Friday night and Saturday night. I must say we had a great time and the dogs all looked good. The funny thing is we never made a tree with all 4 dogs on the same tree. And I must say not one time did any dog pull off of a tree to go to another dog. Out of the 16 trees, must of the time the dogs were all treed at the same time. Out of the 16 trees, 2 times there was 3 dogs on the same tree. 6 trees there was just one dog and all the rest there was two dogs on each tree. I can't wait till this coming Friday and Saturday night to see how it all ends up!

Be Kind

John could you tie a drag to them Oklahoma dogs just to be kind to poor old Zack. Maybe a concrete block or two would slow them down enough. You could even let possums count then Zack would be in a good mood and not make me feel bad about razzing him.

Final update on this hunt!!!

I must say after its all done with for now I would have to say up front it was a ball and I think all folks who were there had a great time.

I will say at the end it was a very close score if we was keeping score! But I belive the Okla dogs were the overall winners even though there was only 2 Okla dogs and I lost count of all the MI and the one OH dog that was brought in to help out. lol
I must say I was a little shocked to see how far Zach would stoop to to try and win he turned his dog loose while we was waiting at the back truck with our dogs on the leash waiting for him to come back there so we could figure out where to turn loose at. He comes walking back to the truck and says what are you all waiting for and I told him we we're waiting on him and his dog and then he tells me he had already turned his loose wow what a cheater lol but needless to say it didn't help him the Okla dogs still got 1st and 2nd strike lol that was on the first drop Friday night and by the end of the night the other folks left me with Zach to hunt alone (I think they didn't wanna see what Zach would try next) lol then he pushes me down a bank (really the dogs pulled to hard and I fell but it sounded good lol) and tries that way to get me to withdraw but I didn't and we split treed two more times and got 4 more coon. It started raining hard and we called it a night. Saturday night we loaded up again and headed for one last night of hunting I was limping real bad but we are tough down in Okla and after this night I had folks watching him to make sure he didn't pull anything else funny. But all teasing aside we had a great time and I can't wait till next time cause I might have to load up another Okie guy and bring him along. Oh and by the way I just left the ER and they gave me some Meds and they think I have a tear in my Calf muscle so with some PT I'll be good as new!

The whole Oklahoma dogs winning is pretty debate able if you ask me. I mean yeah they looked good but most of the time it took BOTH of them plus a mi dog or two to get a coon treed most of time while my old timer mi dog had how many coins by himself? Lol. But since John is a little older than me and naturally more fragile I'll just go ahead and let him think he won so we can keep on being buddies. (Actually it's just so I can see Cajun and Ice go again but don't tell John that). And John as far as cheating goes if you woulda tied some bricks to your dogs like bobcat suggested I wouldn't of had to try cheating. Besides you gotta do what you gotta do and if you ain't cheating you ain't trying lol.

We had a lot of fun hunting the past couple weekends and we saw good dog work and some not so good dog work but at the end we treed 20 some coons and were all still proud to have the dogs that we do but I'm a lot more proud that I can call everyone that I got to hunt with my friend and as always can't wait till the next time we get together and chase some ring tailed varmints. Good friends are hard to come by so when you find a couple you better enjoy em cause to me that's what this sport is all about! Thanks guys!

Just Dogs

You know I hate that Zack had to cheat just to stay in the hunt with the Oklahoma dogs but that's how it goes with ole Slick. After reading some of these other post I don't want to razz my buddy Zack real hard. Reading some of the post on this board and the other one frequently makes me think, they are just dogs. Then I think about all the friends I have made because of these dogs and realize it's more than that. It's about people and memories, good times and friendship. Most of the folks I have met while chasing after these Leopards are good people and I am glad to call them my friend. I am happy to say the people who got together for this hunt are my friends even if Zack is a cheater. Remember folks these Leopards are just dogs but friends are special.

Bob, you are so right and I so enjoy having all my friends that hunt these ole Leopards and if it wasn't for them dogs I wouldn't have met them but I wouldn't trade them for anything.
