American Pitbull Terrier X English Coonhound?

Kicking around the idea of making a cross to produce some TREEING CUR pups. Anybody made a similar type cross?

Well if he is going to use them for treedogs probably would weed out most of the guests bringing dogs.

I have seen some of various configurations used for that. Usually watered down to about 1/4 for running stuff. Many had GSP in them also. They were actually pretty effective.

My question was if anybody had made a similar cross and what were their experiences. I have the best English Coonhound Bloodlines in my current hounds, however I am interested in developing my own stock of Cur. I have actually been with quite a few Pitbull Terriers that were good natured, fair coon treers. I am very picky in my stock of dogs and what I hunt. I would rather develop my own cur. Thanks again.

I know guys that are using 1/4 pit 3/4 hounds that are bear and coon treeing machines. Pit bulls have more desire and brains than most hounds ive been around. They do lack the nose power. I have been working for a guy this week that has a full pit thats a treeing machine but he is all sight and little nose. If i had the extra time and facilities i would try a similar experiment. I would go with a plott, b and tan or a red bone. Mostly just because of looks.

Growing up as a kid my dads pit bulldogs (hog dogs) would tree coon frequently during daylight hours. Over the years I also have seen a handful of pits belonging to other hunters tree coon at night. So I know that they can tree, just wondering what would happen if bred to a sure enough tree dog what would come out. I didn't get enough response's to personally draw a conclusion. Thanks again.
