Lets talk Pac Man
Lets talk Pac Man, How many of you ever got to draw him on a hunt, how many of you had pups directly off him? I drew him more than I cared too he was a pretty dang nice hound, always had a bad rep as being mean but I never seen it, I judged him once in a hunt as a non hunting judge and I nearly had to run to every tree to satisfy the handlers of the other dogs as the night before they claimed he ate a dog up and it had to be taken to the vet, I never saw one thing that told me he was mean or at least no meaner than the dogs he was treed with that night .I don't know of a dog that won as much as he did back then .I never got a pup out of pac man even though I would have liked too as he was just up the road from me in Tazewell Tn at one time .

Hunted with several direct out of him.
He sure did throw mean ones.
Every dog does I'm sure, seems he had more than his share.
My buddy had one that was 100% COONDOG but you couldn't hunt him with anything, male or female.
He lost several huntin buddies, finally figgured it out and sold him to a man that never hunted with anybody but he still talks about that dog LOL. He did tell the man that bought him that he was straight gator and he couldn't hunt him with anything. The man didn't care and as far as I know he never hunted the dog with anything. Big mouth, drove a track, stay put treedog, just couldn't tolerate company.
My brother had a friend with one and he was the classic "everybody I draw or hunt with has mean dogs". That dog was scarred up and in a fight all the time but it was always the other dog. He finally quit hunting it with other dogs and finally admitted it was his dog but he didn't like it LOL.
Those that weren't mean were watched like a hawk just because of the reputation.

Pac Man
I hunted with Pac Man several times when the late Ted Ramey hunted him for Mr. Bellar. Ted brought Striker along with Pac Man one weekend. Those two hounds could run a coon better than most hounds could run a deer. I never saw Pac Man be rough one time. I ended up with a male dog out of him, one of the better coon hounds that I ever owned.
Shaun Paton
Chase Creek Kennels
Owned a female direct out of pacman and a lipper female coondog all the way no mean in her was as fast a track dog as I have ever seen only ukc she was in was tn state hunt took 2 on fri night and placed top 15 on sat .but back then we were young only fooled with th nkc then.only bad to her was when she got bout 8 or 9 she went semi crazy but other than that she was a coondog.like other said pac just up road from me and if he were still alive I'd have another from him right now
.
Jack Miller and Wilbur Haggan from around Thomasville, GA. had one named Dog. It seemed like I would draw him and Hardwood dan about every hunt I went to. Dog was a good one. Jack and Wilbur were two fine Men also.

Pacman came from Harlan Ky he was a mixed up dog that was a coon dog bar none bird dog fox hound and walker but he was the right kind of coon dog best track dog that ever ran a coon.
I had a Gr.Nt. female directly out of Pac Man and also raised a male off of her that looked just like him and both were outstanding coon dogs and neither had a mean hair on them.

I had one out of Pac Man.
He was a good son of a gun, but got early retirement due to getting mean.
He went to the Winchester Retirement Home.
He was a coon treeing dude, too.

Pacman
I judged Pacman when he hunted a zone hunt out of Elkhorn, WI I saw an outstanding hound perform. He was sick and would stop and drink whenever possible. He held his tree under intense pressure as there was a local dog that would test the constitution of the devil himself.
All dogs had a mother thus don't give all the credit or discredit to the stud. A lot of the females bred to Pacman were from the meanest coondogs the walker breed has known.
Two years ago I made a cross that carried Pacman 12 times in 7 generations and there were no ill pups. A couple females were exceptional.
Hunted one off of Pacman for a friend. Needed one win to grand so that was short-lived. Nice hound.
Is there any pac man blood still available
I have a direct son of Bellar's Psycho at the house. While not direct from PacMan he has plenty in him. Never a mean hair on him. In all honesty he was a little too soft on tree In my opinion. He was a nice dog in his day (he is around 9 yo now). Climbed a leaning tree after a coon and fell out one night. He was a get gone and have a coon kind of dog. But after he fell he never was quite the same and after 2-3 nights of hard hunting you tell the arthritis was setting in. So he was retired to pet status. Might try to breed to him soon if I have something come in heat.
Where are you located would like to know if you have him bread
I am located in south central Ky. Bred to the dog one time a couple of years ago. All pups but one died before 2 days old. We kept the little female until she was about 7-8 months old and didn't have time to really start her so I gave her to a local guy that coon hunted a lot more than I did back then. Not entirely sure but I think the guys old dog died and he quit hunting. Lost all track of her after that so don't even know how she turned out.
He never was titled or even put in a hunt but was just a good ol country coon dog that liked to show you coons. Wasn't the loudest dog in the woods but had a beautiful carrying mouth that you could hear and call a long ways off. He didn't pass many coons as I have seen him tree coons at 2-300 yards but if you dry holed him he would go yonder looking for one. Never not even once did I ever see him fool with any junk. The only problem I ever had with him was that he had big ears which wasn't a major problem because I only pleasure hunted back then.
Pac
Hunted with Pac didn't have any problem. Hunted several pups from him including Handsome Harry and Charlie Manson. Charlie wouldn't take much but didn't consider him mean at all. Harry would tree behind a mean dog. None of the others were even ruff.Back then there where a lot of ruff dogs and Pac dang sure wasn't going to leave.

You'll always have, what you're willing to put up with.
If you ever bread that dog and get a pup I would sure like to know
pac man
I have a three month old female that has him I think in the fourth generation. I believe it's watered down enough not to show the mean streak. She is one of the smartest pups I have ever seen.

JUST WATCH WHAT'S NEXT!!!!!!!!
I bought a 5 month old gyp out of Pac and World Ch Bonnie back in 88/89...I had just gotten out of the Army and tried to start with the best coonhound stock I could afford....Well after about another year I had a belly full and sold her for 500 just what I paid for her..The gentleman bred her everytime she came in heat ....NON HUNTIN ...scared of the dark.... MOST STUPID DOG I HAVE EVER OWNED...Looked for her for 3 hrs one night and finally found her curled up under a blown over tree...ASLEEP... about 150 yrds from where we had been the whole time...I CAN SAY ...SHE WOULDNT WORTH A DIME BUT... I GOT 500 WORTH OUT HER HIDE THAT NIGHT....I dont down another mans dog or breeding program ...but in this case...I FIGURED I HAD BOUGHT STOCK IN THIS QUESTION....

I has a direct son from pacman, GrNtCh CB, he was a coon treeing dog, not a mean hair on him, we bred him to 2 females, 2 different blood lines, every pup from both females was alligators, at 9 months old they would try to kill each other LOL, he never bred anything else.

pac man
I had a female directly out of pac man and a litter mate to merchants tree blaster. She was hands down the best fastest accurate cold or hot trailing coon treeing female I ve seen or hunted with. Her only fault was she could not even handle a face barking dog and would never fight. I wish she was still alive.
