I believe the last figure I heard was around 20% of our imports. I'm no rocket scientist but I'm guessing we could assume this would be passed back to us the consumer when all is said and done. The real issue that could bring our country to it's knees is if and when Russia/China decide that the dollar is to be replaced as the world's currency. They could make it near worthless and bring us to our knees.
At what time does a country have more enemies than it can handle?
Do we want Putin to put missiles in Cuba? During the Cuban missile crisis cooler heads prevailed. Of course that was a long time ago and Kennedy was president not this garbage.
Is there another Burisma deal all these politicians are in on that we don't know about? Or is just the military industrial complex needing all that lost revenue since they no longer have Afghanistan to disappear billions of dollars into the pockets that be?
They all are pretty worked up over secure borders and national sovereignty just not ours. This all for a nation we have zero obligation to protect and nothing to offer but a place for their corrupt deals.
Is there some piece of the puzzle I'm missing?
Ukraine has had since 1987 to join NATO and never has.
I can see why Russia would want it for their warmer water ports. Us getting oil and gas to European countries cost them substantially more than buying from us but heck Biden doesn't even want us to produce for our selves and seems to have no problem with Russia's pipeline.

If the US let's Russia do whatever they want, pretty soon Russia will control all of Europe. Ukraine will be just the first step. If Russia is allowed to invade Ukraine, all they will have to do is threaten to invade other countries and that country will have to do what they say. Then where would we be? Ukraine is merely symbolic. This is a test to see how America will react. Just like any bully, Russia is picking on a weaker country first. They are testing us to see if they can get away with it.

Of course we could just sit back and let European countries fend for themselves. Do we really need them? Is America self sustaining?

Should America have stayed out of World War II? Should we have let Europe fight their own battle then? I wonder how that would have worked out? America was much more self sustaining then. Hitler would not have dared to try and attack America. He couldn't even beat Russia.

Should America have stayed out of Afghanistan and Iraq? Should we have let terrorists establish their bases in other countries and those countries support them? Should we only fight terrorists on our soil or should we go after them where they live?

We have no obligation to Ukraine. Why isn't Germany getting involved? I will tell you why because they are a huge consumer of Russian oil and gas. They will not approve weapons made in Germany to be exported by some of the Baltic states that hold them to send them to Ukraine. Really the main 2 countries ratcheting this up are the US and the UK. Do you know where all these troops on Ukraine's border are everyone keeps talking about? Mostly in Russia! That's right troops in their own country. They also conduct joint military exercises in Belarus. It looks like this whole mess stems from EU countries not wanting Iraq refugees passing through Belarus and being helped and sent into Poland with hopes of reaching other European countries. The "migrant crisis" lol funny how we worry so much about others borders but not our own!
Again, how would we react if this was our border country, non allies who would put missiles pointed at us. There is a reason that Ukraine is not a member of NATO and wasn't meant to be after the fall of the USSR.
Go back to the Cuban missile crisis. How did we react.
Richard, it is not our job to police and protect the world. One does not have to be this to be a world power. Both Russia and China are proof of that. A country can have a huge national defense that others can envy and fear without intervening in every squabble around the globe.

Ukraine is not a member of NATO because Russia won't allow it. Those Russian Army troops and tanks are sitting 60 miles from the capital city of Ukraine.

Look at how Russia is controlling Germany now. Pretty soon they will be controlling all of Europe if something is not done.

It is not our job to police and patrol the World but some actions that happen elsewhere can have a direct or indirect effect on us. Sometimes you have to look ahead or plan ahead. Sometimes what your neighbor that lives 2 doors down from your property does something that greatly affects your property. What would you do if an industrial company started dumping raw sewage 2 miles upstream into a creek that flowed through your property? The conundrum is deciding when and where and how to step in. Some actions you can take yourself and sometimes you have to call the police and ask them to take action and sometimes you have to hire a lawyer. Governments are no different. Their problems are just on a much bigger scale.

Tit for tat. Remember I mentioned Cuba earlier well add Valenzuela and Nicaragua to that list. We should have stuck with the plan to use the Nord Stream 2 pipeline as leverage but no this idiot abandoned that and now has set his focus on Ukraine. Putin hasn't blinked he's calling Biden's bluff by calling his allies on our side of the pond in the 3 countries I mentioned above. Now we're about to be in a heck of a mess by our ever interventionist attitude. But not to worry there is money to be made by many. As always follow the money, we are merely sheeple no need to question what they feed you.
As for Taiwan we have failed for decades to recognize them as their own country given that they don't even know what they want. You have the we are China and are the rightful rulers of mainland China, the we should just become one with China group and the we should be our own country group. This mess has been going on since 1949! Taiwan is in a special place of leverage in that they make over 60% of the semiconductor chips for the world and over 90% of advanced computer processors. These components are why China wants it and even though almost no one recognizes them as even a country try to protect it from mainland China takeover. I did notice that the US is finally doing something about the semiconductor supply/demand/shortage and going to be building a huge facility in Ohio. So someone is finally making some good decisions. The less we are reliant upon others for our goods the more we can put the focus on ourselves. The more we are able to supply to others the more pull we have around the world.
Our trade deficit is at over 1 trillion $ for 2021. We are importing that much more than sending out. Where does most of it come from? Who has the leverage? Are Americans willing to give up their cheap goods and could we even afford to survive if we did?

Do you think that if Russia doesn't like the direction that a sovereign nation is headed in so they just invade that nation and take it over; then the rest of the World should stand back and do nothing about it?

Russia has placed 150,000 of their soldiers along with tanks and rockets along their border within 30 miles of Ukraine. Does even one single solitary soul think that Russia is afraid that Ukraine is going to invade them? Russia does not want Ukraine to become a member of NATO. Does anyone think that NATO will attack them without provocation? Russia does not want Ukraine to have any missiles, tanks or aircraft. Does anyone believe that Russia thinks Ukraine will ever at any point in time become strong enough to invade them?

Ask yourself, why does Russia not want Ukraine to have a strong military? Why does Russia not want Ukraine to be a member of NATO?

Richard those who forget the past are destined to repeat it. We stood by in 1939 and watched the big bully begin gobbling up smaller countries and offered no help. In fact, our President at that time said it wasn't our problem, kind of similar to this idiot we have now. China has been waiting until they have America over a barrel, and believe me they do. They have stolen so many tech items and turned them into military equipment, that its as if the balance of power has shifted. YES, we have to defend freedom at any and all cost, anywhere in the world, because if not, it will soon be us against the world. If we don't wake up and take a stand, we will fall from within. Our leadership is very weak, and we supposedly elected these socialist, who are driving us towards communism at a pace we have never seen before. But falling from within�one of the biggest red flags I have seen here lately is lies that are told to our faces�the news media twisting the truth to sway the majority in the direction they want it�s to take�the forces behind the agenda usually is money�but I also see it goes beyond money..the main agenda is making this country a socialist country�the ultimate goal is in taking our Freedom away as we know it�

This isn't Afghanastan or Iraq or even Vietnam we are talking about here. When we remember history let us also not forget how what ended World War 2.
History also tells me that major empires have risen and fell as far back as we can study. Where did they go wrong? What caused their failure?

I do not believe we should sacrifice one single American for Ukraine. I also believe that very little of what is sent there will end up where it needs to be. Did you read what a source close to President Zelensky said when the US asked family members to leave the embassy? "Quite frankly these Americans are safer in Kiev than they are in Los Angeles � or any other crime-ridden city in the U.S."
I read news sources from around the globe and have for years. The going narrative is we can't handle our messes at home and leave them in our wake else where.
The thing is during the Trump years there was much reporting of their own protest rising up against corruption in their countries waving our flag right next to theirs as a symbol of freedom and their rebellion against government overreach, corruption and a changing of the fabric of their nations identity by the influx of "refugees".
Biden's placement had consequences around the globe and this one could cost us dearly if he isn't extremely careful. Truthfully, I don't trust him or handlers and what they did leaving Afghanistan could not have been an accident.

You can guarantee that they have an agenda behind it that involves the USA and trying to hurt us at some point. They can't be trusted and have tried to be a Bully for many many years.
Put in is a snake in the grass....waiting to strike when your back is turned. Look at what they tried with Kennedy & Cuba.
Send some fire power over to Ukraine & the Region....show Snake Eyes that if he wants it then bring it on. If you want to be a Super Power then be it, don't stick your tail between your legs and run.
As far as what Zelensky said......Pay No attention to his perspective on anything.....he is weak.

Ukraine is not a member country of NATO but it is a "Partner Country". America has promised to help protect and signed treaties promising this going back to 2004. Y'all say that Biden is weak. Now how weak would he be if he let Russia invade Ukraine and did nothing? America is a democracy and ruled by the majority. A very large majority of Americans believe that America should stand up to Russia and help the Ukrainians protect themselves to include sending our troops if needed. Only a very small minority think that we should forget our promise to protect; stand back and do nothing.

Does anyone think that Russia would stop there? Does anyone think that China would not swallow up every country around them if we do nothing?

How long will America continue to be a Democracy if Russia and China swallow up the rest of the world? In order to protect ourselves, we have to protect our Allies and partners.

"America First" also means "Allies Second". It doesn't mean "Only America". Protecting Ukraine is in America's best interest.
