URGENT........Kennels and fleas...

Never had fleas before........ 8 dog kennel..... two dogs with fleas.....I know how to treat the dogs...... but what do you do to get them out of the kennels..... I don't want this spreading....... any home remedies.?

Nexgard or Simparica. Forget treating your kennel. No need.

Permethrin 10%

mix 2 0unces to 3 gallons of water, spray them down. can also be used to spray down kennel boxes. Empty bedding 1st and replace.

Fleas

I have a flea problem now myself, I have been using the Seresto collars for several years with NO Fleas at all on dogs or in kennels. I don't know what happened, but now I have a Hugh flea problem on dogs and in kennels. I experienced the same thing several years ago while using Frontline plus, worked good for a few years, then failed to work. I had HIGHLY recommended the Seresto collars and they were doing their job. Don't know what has happened, but they are not working now. I called Chewys and explained my situation, they sent new collars, but that did Not fix the problem. I have sprayed the lots and the dogs, put walnut leaves in lots and houses, nothing working 100 percent as of today. I know the Seresto collars are being faked, but would think Chewys would have the real thing. I just can not believe that the Seresto collars that kept my dogs and kennels flea free for several years just quit working. Kind of think that Chewys got a batch of fake collars. Dave

I've been using the spot treatment....... bio spot until that was unavailable...... then a frontline knock off...... not a flea until now..... and its bad....... washed dogs and kennels yesterday..... and ordered some 13.3 percent permethrin..... gonna try that on dogs and kennel and houses.

BIFON or BIFIN. Mix in sprayer and treat just kennels then do it again in ten days, followed by an insurance spray another ten days out. The last two sprays are to ensure that you killed all the eggs left in the cycles.

I have never sprayed a dog with it and wouldn't recommend it. This stuff works well for the skeeters too.

Several years ago I started throwing a couple double handsfull of diomateous earth in my doghouses when i change bedding. havent had a flea since.

Do yourself a favor and order your dogs one of the flea and tick tablets!! They carry all the major brands. Any fleas that bite your dog will die within minutes and your fleas will be eliminated. I use Nexgard but all of them work. Use one of the monthly chews because the 3 month brands are only rated to kill the lone star tick for 2 months and safety has not been rated on giving them more frequently. This website is out of Australia does not require a prescription and is about half the cost of buying at your vet. Get the tablets for up to 120lbs. For our regular size hounds I use half a month for large like Shack (85+) he gets 3/4 and a pup gets his remaining piece. To the naysayers I have been splitting these for years. Dave, they also carry Seresto collars ($37.32). You pay with a PayPal account.
In the meantime spray your kennel and it's surroundings with permethrin you can buy a bottle of concentrate and mix it yourself for use in a garden sprayer. Dogs don't need any bedding right now other than maybe just a mat. Burn any bedding. The diatomaceous earth does work great in dry conditions but for an infestation I would use the permethrin.
You will need to treat your dogs for tapeworm because they have had fleas.

Get the pills in em as Jennifer mentioned above.
Buy both permethrin and some Bifen I/t as well.

I'll add a few details on a couple outbreaks ive had over the years that have completely gotten rid of em !! >>>

It's a PAIN but Youre gonna have to perimeter spray those two sprays
( alternating ) EVERY 2-3 days for several weeks, in dog houses and all. You MUST kill the life cycle of all family members ( eggs, larve , cacoon, and fleas) that are hatching off!!

note - I remove dogs from kennels for several hours on the days i spray.

Also, if you have alot of rabbits roaming in and around your yard/place get rid of them every time u see one. They have been the main carrier for me over the years and it took me awhile to fig that out !

Thanks everyone for all the info...... I washed all the dogs with dawn dish soap and that definitely helped...... I'm getting some Permethrin 13.3 percent today to spray kennels it also says I can spray the dogs with this...... any recommendations on spraying the dogs with permethrin? Like is it safe to leave them in the kennel when I spray and is it ok to actually use that for a flea treatment on the dog?

And someone mentioned tapeworm......I didn't realize they get tapeworm from fleas?

And funny thing I do have a lot of rabbits here always have but never a flea problem until now...... the rabbits being hear might change now..... never thought of that.
