Lightbulb Ideas for getting caged coons?

I live in a sort of urban area so I can't bait and lure my own raccoons even though I know we probably have some around. I have a dog who's getting to the age where a scent drag on a skin isn't going to cut it and I want to try getting him on a live coon.

I'm a complete greenhorn and a newbie to this so I don't even really have connections with other hunters to ask them for advice, and all the coon clubs around here aren't taking new members at the moment for me to try asking them for advice.

It's just me and my dog going out to state land every week and trying to get him to find something, but he's getting old of the skin I got. It's not the season for hunting yet so I can't go shoot one and drag the corpse around either, but road kill has been tempting to grab if everything wasn't brutally mauled by traffic. I've been tempted to call some animal removal companies to see if they'd give me one caged but I was curious if other people have tried and with what results or if there are different approaches I haven't thought of yet.

Honestly, any advice helps thanks!

Use a live trap with marshmallows. Dogs and cats don't typically go for marshmallows but the smell and bright white attract the coons, possums and sometimes a skunk

You have to buy your own live trap and convince a neighbor with enough woods to let you set it in their yard. Usually the coons get in their garbage or garage or garden so they are receptive to it.

I have a hard time believing local clubs aren't taking any new members.

Coons can be difficult to trap in woods. If you can find where they're eating out of garbage cans near houses or restaurants they're easier to catch. they're not afraid to go in a cage for food. I've caught hundreds that way.
