TT15 mini gps replacement?

I see the GPS units are plug and play for the 15 mini. Presently have a collar that charges, turns on, connects, then loses connect after 2 minutes or so. Have done a factory reset, updated collar, affixed a new antenna, all that fun stuff. It deletes and adds again fine, but loses communication within minutes. Shows good charge, good GPS, but won't communicate.

Anyway, guessing it must be the GPS units and thinking of one of those 45 dollar GPS units available. Doesn't seem difficult but if you have tried it and it was not great please advise.

communication

Essentially, once the handheld and collar are more than 3 feet away from each other, communication bars decrease immediately and communication is lost.
