Coon hunting around Escanaba Michigan

I was wondering what the hunting was like up there? Wolves, coon population? Ect.

I can't say about Escanaba proper, but not far from there is the garden peninsula. I spent some time up there last year looking for spots to coon and deer hunt. Believe I'm heading up this fall.. FWIW.. I'd start nosing around there..

I would not turn a dog loose by itself in the UP at night. A guy just had his bobcat dog killed by some wolves about an hour from there and that’s during the day. A lone coondog at night doesn’t stand a chance in my opinion. I visit friends in the UP regularly and usually always have a hound with me and I have never turned one loose and I have access to some of the best farm ground up there but it’s not worth the risk to me.
