Ukc or anyone rule help

Is there anytime you would give a dog next available tree points. I don't find a rule that says you would. Thanks in advance

Posted by RFussnecker on 03-29-2025 05:20 AM:

If dog is at a tree when the cast arrive

And you did not call it. It gets minus track points.

Don’t think so. Changed in January of 23. Look at 12-22 advisor.

Looks like we all need to look at the book.

Here is the minus senerio, your strike gets minus

(f) If dog declared treed; after three minutes has elapsed no additional dog can be declared treed at that particular tree. Dog(s) treeing but not declared treed when judge arrives receives minus strike points. Dogs shut-out* on strike will receive no minus strike points. Refer to Rule 6 (f) for Champion Division casts and off game.

Posted by TN Quick Check on 04-02-2025 03:25 PM:

YES (i) When a dog that is declared treed leaves that tree
the dogs tree points are minused. If dog returns to
tree within the three minutes, he will receive the
next available position on tree, unless all dogs have
been declared treed. After two minutes of the first
dog being declared treed, the only tree position
available is 25.

(j) Any dogs declared treed after three minutes expires
and tree is closed; call will be accepted as a split
tree. If dog is on closed tree when judge arrives,
strike and tree points are scored as dog left separate
split tree and is now considered treeing but not
declared treed on this particular tree.

So on (J) you get 125 minus for leaving it's "split" tree then takes it's strike minus for tree when judge arrives but not declared treed (f).

Ok
If dogs A, B and C all trees over 500 away with a minute. Dog A is 125, Dog B is 75 and dog C is 50. When you get in there and all three are split what do you do with the tree points?

All the dogs would move up to 125 on tree because they are on separate trees

Ok that is true. If they are all split, they all get moved up to 125. What if dog A and dog B leaves the area before the cast gets there and Dog C is the only one treeing when the cast arrives. Shouldn't this be treated the same and Dog C gets moved to 125?

No C would stay at 50 tree points unless you could deffinately tell they were split

Jack
What rule are you using for this?
I have seen it done both ways.
I would move the dog up the same as if they were all split. There is no way to tell if they were split or not from 500 yards in the same area. They all could have been split when they first treed. Unless there is a define rule that states other wise i say you have to give the dog the benefit of the doubt and move it up just like you would any other split tree. I do not see how you can "punish" the dog that stayed treed. This could be for plus points, circle points or minus point however the tree is scored

BAAS, Jack is correct. UKC does not allow you to assume the dogs are split unless obvious or you get there and see that they are split.

Bill,
I didn't say was wrong. I am just wondering what rule was being used to make that decision.
How would it be scored if dogs B and C are split when the cast arrives and dog A is gone?
Thanks

11c) Split Trees. Where dogs split up, Judge will go
with handler to the dog that trees first. If a split
tree is obvious (Judge’s decision), split tree will
be assigned. Separate time must be kept on each
tree unless all dogs are declared treed. Judge shall
give handler permission to handle dog on split tree
unless cast is in process of shining a tree. After the
split dog is handled, handler shall return to cast. If
all dogs are declared treed and handled AND cast
needs to move to new location after scoring all
trees, trees may be scored in most convenient order
(refer to 7(e) and 11(d) if applicable). Otherwise,
trees must always be scored in the order dogs were
declared treed.

The key words are OBVIOUS and JUDGES DECISION. Thats why good judges state as calls are made rather it's on the paper as one tree or split. Shady judges say will see when we get in there and write it up to their benefit.

Ok how would you score this?

How would it be scored if dogs B and C are split when the cast arrives and dog A is gone?
