Head shaking
Got a dog that does alot of head shaking not sure if he has mites doesn't seem to have a infection are the any home remedies to cure it..
In the many years I've had dogs there were only two things of dogs shaking their heads that I dealt with…ear infections due to ear mites and ear infections due to bad dog food…
The dog food issue was the hardest to cure..no treatment worked until I swapped to another brand of dog food…i had been feeding sportsmix for years and something went wrong with it…after a few years I am back to feeding sportsmix again and dogs look good…
The earnites…the easiest way to cure earmites and fleas is give the 50-60 pound dog 1.5 cc’s of ivomec or whatever brand as long as the Zimecterin is 1 percent…the paste is 1.87 percent but you will have to guess-stemate how much to give…whichever I use I mix it with a little gravy or soup and they will lick the bowl clean…just enough to kill the flavor so the dog gets full strength…it takes a week or a little longer but if it is earmites all will clear up…
Skip a couple of weeks and give another cc of ivomec and repeat ever 2-1/2 to 3 months and your dog will never get infected with earmites or fleas…it seems to kill most of the stomach worms…and no fleas equals no tape worms…

I get this at Tractor Supply. Best I’ve ever used.

Reuben, are you suggesting giving the Ivomec orally?
I have a TW coonhound that still shakes his head after 2 trip to the vet. He was first prescribed Animax ointment for a week. After that didn't clear it up, he was prescribed Prednisone - to work in conjuction with the Amimax.
He still shakes his head - more in the kennel and when I let him out for exercise than in the woods. I don't think I've ever had one that it took this long to get cleared up. Also, I have him on a fish-based dog feed.
Yes…if the dog has earmites ivermectin will kill them faster than any earmite medicine that I know of…mix it with about 1/2 a cup ofmest gravy or something that will have the dog lick clean…mix and feed the dog…
