Thermal

Just thought I would share. Purchased an Iray FinderFH35-V2 thermal about 2 months ago. I have used about everything AGM has made from the original ASP to the Sidewinder. I really liked the ASP but didn't care for the others. This Finder is for me really nice. Will it find ever coon? no. You will have a time where you can see eyes deep in the foliage and not be able to see him with the thermal. You will need to look from different vantage points a lot of times to see the coon, but I have found a lot of coon with this finder. The problem may be the price. About $2500. It also has a range finder on it which most coon hunters won't need and I am sure increases the price. If you are serious about a thermal I would suggest you check this one out. With all thermals you have to play with the settings to see what works best for you and the conditions. With that said I have heard that the new Seeker that AGM has put out is a pretty good upgrade from the taipan models. The 19 is about $1000 cheaper than the Finder. Conkey's Outdoors sells both and you won't find better customer service.

The new seeker AGM models have the same sensors as the sidewinders. That's no upgrade no matter how you slice it. The heat sensors on the AGMs are absolutely terrible. Will they help you find a coon sometimes? Sure they will if conditions are right. The coon will blend in on alot of trees also especially on hot summer days when the sun was out all day.

I have spent 15 thousand on 7 different thermals over the last 3 months and done hours and hours of research online and watched thousands of YouTube videos on every brand of thermal I could find. Every single one had one flaw or multiple flaws as far as using it strictly for coonhunting. The biggest flaw most had was false tree heat making it impossible to see a coon on a hot sunny day. Some were huge amd heave and very awkward to carry. There is one I finally found that blows all them out of the water and fits in the palm of your hand.
