30 day Doxy for Erhlichia

It seems that the most common treatment for Erhlichia is the 30-day doxy. I've read several times that a dog shouldn't be hunted at all during a doxy treatment, some say they can be hunted if the temp is 70 degrees or lower, then some say you can hunt them as normal during the treatment. I'd like to hear what the majority opinion is. Also, for those that have hunted them while being treated, did it take any longer for them to get over erhlichia, or is the dog just not able to perform at capacity (sluggish/don't hunt as hard) and/or gets real hot when hunted?

You will probably get a few opinions on this. I have heard different vets give different answers. I have hunted them while on doxy and seemed to do ok and the doxy worked. I can say it may be more of a case by case situation. If the dog is on doxy , he/she isn’t feeling well already and may not operate well regardless. I do recommend that you use a pre & pro biotic to help with gut health no matter what way you choose to go with.

Yes, just remember why the dog is on doxy. The doxy doesn't have that much to do with it but the fact that the dog is infected and sick does. Do you take your dog hunting when you have a bad cold or the flu?
