Thats a weird looking one! Something isnt right about that chest...must be a camera angle thing. To have antlers that big this time of year, he'll be a bruiser this Sept.

Heather, a moose that size is 700 to 1000lbs. live weight.

Is Maine the only State up that way that has an open season for moose? What's the chances of drawing a moose tag in Maine? Probably about the same snow ball chance in hades of drawing an elk tag in Michigan.

Moose

I've found it's tough as heck to get them to climb. They usually just bay up because they get tired of sliding down trees cause they can't dig their hooves in to hold on, lol.

I beleive Vermont gives out 10% non resident moose permits.I beleive there giving out around 1100 to 1200 moose permits in the state now (lottery).Back in 1998 i was draw for a vt moose permit I was one of 165 sucessful applicants and 1 of 97 to actually get a moose in the state that year.It was a great hunt and memorable. My moose was a 9 point 630lbs young bull (2 and a half years old) Great eating.

todd you can buy a tag in maine for 11000 or vermont for around 5000 -from the state-- - silent auction-

they have lottery in maine nh and vermont --- odds are very slim -- and worse for non residents---

Nice part about Maine Todd is they have a sub permitee. In other words if you or your friend draw you can put the other on the license. You still can only harvest one but you both get to hunt. Well worth putting in for the odds are not that bad. I have put in as a resident of montana for 13 years and have yet to draw......

I'd say it is worth doing and I'm going to check into it. I'd like to turn the pointer loose up there and sample some of the grouse and woodcock shooting too. That would be a great trip.

Todd, if you can draw a unit L moose tag here in NH, I can guarantee you a moose. My land is thick with them. I've put in almost every year since the hunt started in 1988 and have never been picked.

If anyone gets a unit L moose permit, please come kill my moose. I called Fish and game and asked if i could just on my land and they said no. I dont like them and want them gone. I'll even skid it out with my tractor for you.
