Need Some Advice PLease

Hey folks last few nights went out with a proven pack of dogs. Have had good luck with them. HOWEVER!!! My strike dog has been opening but then not startin last night he seemed to run the track backwards. It has been very humid. Rain in the day and nice in the eve but extremely humid. Not sure what gives he strikes hard but then can't run the track. So not sure. He's had plenty of opportunity to strike on junk and hasn't so maybe he's just smarter than me or maybe he's strikin junk then realizin what he's done and quits. I was more wondering about the humidity. What do you all think? Thanks for your help.

I think it has an effect on them just like rain.

I have talked to a lot of guys that are having this problem. Everyone has the same theory that is the humidity. Th dogs have been able to really line the track out once they get it off the bait a couple of hundred yards. You could try walking your strike dog out a ways and see if that helps.

So they are atributing their issue's to the humidity? Like I said they will strike but not move it after they get off the box. The only thing I can think of and this is pretty weak is that there is so much water on the brush and grass after it cools off that it is basicly washing off the animals feet and legs. The scent that they are smelling is from the parts that aren't soaked??????? But they are leaving no scent on the ground. Does that make any sense??? I have stood at baits with a animal right there and the dogs didn't even know they were there when it was pouring rain and the animal was soaked.

If they move after rain i believe it helps the dog trailing it! The track may be so fresh they take the back track. Some dogs are just bad to do that.
