I would like to thank Tom for giving me the opportunity to hunt and campaign his Roxy female. If everythang goes as planned I hope to cast her this coming friday night at a local club to see if I am ready to make some longer trips with her. If everythang goes good you will also see her at St.Jude.

Again Thanks to Tom for making this happen for me, it is greatly appreciated and I will do my best to do right by this lil female.

Had a good showing this weekend at Elkton CHC in Elkton Ky. Friday night she had a small slip up and we finished the hunt with -25. But come saturday night she had it figured out. The first tree we had 1st strike and 3rd tree, they got hooked over 900 yds away and had the meat. for 150+ The next tree Roxy had 2nd strike off the leash, which was my fault, They left the leash choppin every breath and I aint much for striking in the first minute but either way they made it happen. 2nd strike and 3rd tree. They were deep and jus kept walkin until they came back into hearin. The other 2 dogs got into a skunk along the way and she was split in a big dozer pile that had a lot of holes about 4ft believe. She took circle on that tree and the other 2 dogs ended up hooked in a cedar with the meat. All in all we had a good showin for my first time callin Roxy and her 1st cast in while. She has what it takes to win, and will win. We made 2 casts and people was impressed with how she hunted and her looks.

We pleasured hunted last night with Roxy and my 10 month old Jabo puppy. We had a real good night. Roxy and Jim struck in about the same time and Roxy got 1st tree. Again a quick strike and quick tree, with 2 coons lookin down.
This Roxy female is a fine young hound, and looks to be improving with each night out. Now lets see what happens tonight.

You are doing fine maby you and her will get her 1st place.
Just strike her when she opens because she has a cold nose and doesn't bark out of place and she will locate at lease twice or more as she checks herself so tree her on the 2nd locate and you both will do fine.

Had another good night with Roxy and my pup tonight. They struck in about the same time, and hammered a hot coon about 50yds to a big oak tree. The track was so hot that Roxy never even located or checked herself jus stood up chopin it down.

Roxy did a fine job. She stuck it, smoked that track and flat locked down on it.

She never stopped chopping it down until we pulled her through the woods away from it. Even with all of the messing with that pup we did.

She's getting tuned up and is improving on what she has already. And with you hunting her out here in that swampy bottom that I have to hunt, the hills and rocks you have, and all of the riding her around your doing.....she'll end up with a couple of titles pretty quick.

Not to mention your natural ability to deal with dogs. You'll have her done quick.

Thanks for the compliment on Roxy- Shaun VanDyke put a 2nd on her in PA and she has not been in many UKC hunts. She can tree Al,Tn,Ky, OH,Ind and NY coon. I have raised 2 litter ofpup 1st off from Gandsons Older Male and 2 litter some older blood also off Rod Thomas Male. Her 1st litter has done very well and the 2nd ones are just over 7 mo old and act good. I may look for a proven performance male the next time I raise any she has had 8 both times and does a good job of rasing her pups and I wanted to test her ability in this area while young. I know she can handle traveling now and I wanted to see if she could and also how she would do treeing coon in different area's and she has done this also. I knowJonathan is just starting to competion hunting but he will do fine and do it right and get his ands Roxys wins the right way by being honest.

You won't find a more honest handler than Jon. He'll shoot it how it is. If the dog does good..you'll know. If the dog does horrible...you'll know that too.

I've had the honor to get to know Jon pretty good recently and he flat refuses to blow smoke where it shouldn't be. (if you know what I mean)

Thanks for the kind words Red Ice. We had a good honest cast last night. There was enough coon huntin experience that we didn't have to question anythang or vote on anythang either, we all knew what was happenin and how it was happenin. That makes for a very enjoyable hunt. I also wanna thank Gus Butler for guiding our cast and puttin us in plenty of coon.
That 650 Circle pts was kinda hard to swallow last night knowin that 125+ won the reg hunt. But this is a hard time of yr to tree coon on the outside, where most of the sows are still laid up with kittens.

Roxy done a bang up job with 2 1st and 1st and 1 2nd and 1st.

She had a big tree along a fairly deep creek with 3 holes in the bottom of it, and not a leaf one on the tree. The second tree had so much foliage around it that we jus couldn't get the rascal to look but she done it in style. struck quick and treed even quicker, both feet on the tree lookin straight up and clickin'em off. The last tree was in a open cow pasture with 2 big ol bulls not 40yds from her and again she standin up on it click'em off, but yet again nice lil den tree.
All in all we had a great hunt with good people and a great club, that made us feel right at home.

Had a good showin tonight. I carried her out by herself without my puppy. We made 2 drops and the weather was not good. The moon is in startin to shine and the wind is kickin pretty good here but we got out early.
The first drop she werked around in small circles about 300yds and jus couldn't find anything. She never made a bark, so we loaded up and headed to a bottom with a big creek and plenty of water.
She started out a lil slow but then hit the woods wide open. She went about 340yds let out a big long bawl and changed over straight over to a chop, and started burnin it down. A big oak tree along the edge of a field. I looked and squalled and looked some more, but had no luck findin him. There was jus too many places to hide and it touched every tree in the woods.

Tomorrow night we will be huntin out of Lewisburg CHC in Lewisburg, Ky. Hopefully we are gonna see some eyes and get us a win slip.

Me and Roxy went to a local hunt last night to try our luck.
I ended up guiding the cast and thought that would help me out, but I was wrong.
The first tree all dogs was treed in and the other 2 boys said they seen the coon so we scored it.
Got back in the truck and moved about a 1/4 down and cut loose again. They all went in about 500 yds and treed good. Well when we got there Roxy was split from the others and so I started to her. Come to find out she had quit treein to go back on track. She worked the track real good, and finally got it treed. The other boys circled there tree. She done a hell of a job on her split tree, up and down choppin hard, holdin the pressure of 2 walker dogs treein plus us squalin. Sad news is we had to circle that tree also. The next tree was when all went down hill, 2nd strike 2nd tree hard chop burnin it down. We get to the tree and she is movin between the tree and a real deep creek, again she took her minus.

All in all it was a descent hunt jus no high score. I finished with 75-

Next friday night is Morgantown, Ky. Count me in on this one.

I know it's been awhile since I've updated this tread, but it goes

She has doin real good. She is constantly showin us coons about every night we go out
Last night was 2 tree's
The first tree the other 2 dogs got hung up in a hole and she worked it out and got treed in a big white oak that hit about 4 different other tree's. So we was unable to get him to look.
The second tree on the other hand was a red hot track, that she got 1st and 1st tree on. She struck in off the leash and they hammered the for a little over 400 and sat down with meat. A great big corn fed bore.

some pics from tonight. My grandaddy was able to come tonight and made it to the last tree to work with his buck dog that is out of Guy Lucking's strain of dogs. He is 81 and had a great time, and really enjoyed watchin and listenin to Rocky get it done.

Watch her close she schould be coming in season soon and I want to see how she will cross on one of theses top Studs if the Lord gets me past this next knee surgery ok. I Talked to Rod Thomas and he has a 8-Month male out of her last litter and his male has been treeing squirrel for awhile now.The older litter are about 18 months old and also were doing good the last time I checked.
