I breed him quite sometime ago, it was a great cross and there are only two dogs alive out of that litter. Clayton Plecker owns him and has for the time he was a pup. I am sure you have heard about him he is sort of a legend over there on the Plecker farm. He has tree many bear by himself, and kept more than his share up a tree for more than would be expected by a single hound.
I don't think he was ever hunted in a pack of bear hounds, then again maybe Bo Shrader or Donnie Robertson took him a time or two, but Clayton didn't let it happen to often because he thought alot of him and still does. I know both men tried to bred to him, it just never happened. The dog mostly ran loose on the farm and kept many a bear up a tree and plenty of coon as well, he was a born natural. I tried to breed to Izzy to him before I bred her to Dice, but couldn't get a tie.
The other dog that is alive out of that litter Nathan Forbes owned and was a solid bear dog his entire life. He has been retired from bear hunting and is coon hunted now by some of his family. I have talked to both men about breeding to these two dogs and both men are more than willing to let me breed them.
It is as far back to the well as I can get and should make extremely good bear dogs. I know I plan on keeping as many pups as I possibly can. They will be packed with old blood to breed back to Dice or Izzy and then back to her offspring.
That's the plan anyways but if for some reason I can't get a this cross made because of there age or they may have went sterile, then Dottie will be breed back to Dice or Johnny.
Both dogs out of Abe and Nellie are well up in there age and I am going to take both dogs over to Mr. Steve Marrows place to have him help me get this cross made, fingers crossed. This will be the holly grail cross in my mind, but then again it may be the worst ever, time will tell, but it sure looks good on paper, packed with some old solid blood, and bred solid dog to solid dog. You may want to consider a male out of this cross to keep yourself, it would be a nice cross back to Lil, that is my opinion thou, you can bet if it happens I have a pile of options to keep this blood current for the next 20 yrs.
