I have a question ????

I hear all the time about Leps. really only bonding with one person for life and never really taking to anyone else. I know my female loves everyone, but will only listen and work for me, she won't listen worth spit to anyone else nor work on the bench for anyone else. So my question then is, how do you get an adult Lep. to bond with you or listen to and hunt for you? I see them for sale and wonder how they will work for someone other then their 'person'. I have seen a few and know that they only 'work' for their person and won't do nothing for anyone else. So that would mean, no handler other then the owner, etc.

All my girl wants to do is please me, she doesn't care about no one else but me. Knowing how super smart they are, I'm not sure how all the changing would work.

Mine do just fine with somebody else. My buddy Tyler can come grab any of my dogs out of the pen and go hunting no problem and vice versa. As a matter of fact I took his female Nitech Reaper's Shine'n Dixie to Leopard Days last year. It may take awhile but they should learn to hunt and handle for someone else no problem. I just sent a female all the way to Tennessee, for a buddy of mine to handle her in the hunts, a week or so ago, it only took a matter of hours for her to warm up to him. You just need to put your dog in situations where they learn to work for other people. They may always prefer "their favorite person" but they can easily learn to handle and hunt for somebody else. The one's that are truly one person dogs and are scared to death of everyone else don't need to be reproducing in my opinion. If your dog just prefers you, but is friendly and outgoing towards others it will learn.

So kinda like a little tough love. Just have to do it! I very much would like her to work on the bench for someone else, then I could send her to the bigger shows with a handler. She is worth it, trust me. She is walking in a 5k with me next Sunday and she will love that, but she will keep looking to me for her support. She is only 7 mos. old and I haven't exposed her to much, so I guess I know what I have to do!
